#95 The Person of God and Holy Integrity

Dr. Wesley L. Duewel- God wants integrity in His people (1 Chron. 29:17). A person of God must be known for holy integrity. Nothing is more important in a Christian leader.

Godliness is more than total mental commitment to the authority of God's Word and the doctrines of Scripture. We need that mental commitment, but that is not enough. (Google image, Integrity)

Like Jesus

Like Jesus

He lived with such a passion as this world has never seen
His heart was pure and holy never selfish never mean
And though He was rejected by the ones he came to save
Hell had no power to keep Him in the darkness of the grave

He spoke with loving firmness of the Kingdom that was His
Where all who lived in love with Him would never want to miss
The beauty and the wonder of that great palatial place
The center of the universe beyond the realms of space

He held such sweet communion every morning when He'd rise
With tears of deep compassion in His soft and gentle eyes
As speaking with His Father they would plan His work each day
Considering each life He'd touch and everything He'd say

To bring to them sweet comfort for the trials they were in
Or words of deep conviction for their dark and hidden sin
Or words that held the power to forgive where they'd gone wrong
To lift them from their guilt and shame and place in them a song

Of joy and peace and gladness of reflection on the ways
God's promised His direction in the soon uncertain days
When all will be commotion from the winds He will release
And only those who know Him best will live and dwell in peace

Because they have within them God's sweet Spirit who attends
To every situation as Christ's people He defends
Who've done the work before them in the faith of Jesus Christ
And kept His Law within them for which He did pay the Price

For as we look upon Him Who is Saviour God and King
Through words of inspiration while in prayer we're studying
His Spirit makes and molds us in the Image that we see
And places deep within us portions of divinity

As eating Bread from heaven feeding on His mighty Word
And drinking from the Fountain of the Lord as we have heard
We will become more like Him Whom His people failed to know
And by His grace reflect the Truth that He would have us show

So when He comes in glory to collect His precious gems
Those who will rise to glory will be those who look like Him
In image truth and character with those they knew before
Who found in them the love of God that they were looking for

Let's pray-

Father, thank You that we are being changed from day to day into Christ's image; as He makes our transformation a reality.
Christ's love and provision for us to know You, Father, is why He was born, was willing to die and raised again for us to live by faith in Him.
He brings us sweet comfort for our trials we're in, or words of deep conviction for our dark and hidden sin, or words that hold the power to forgive us when we've gone wrong.
He lifts us from our guilt and shame and gives us a song of joy, peace and gladness, as we reflect on the ways You've promised Your direction in these uncertain days.
So when Jesus comes in glory to collect His precious gems, those who rise to glory will be those who look like Him in image, truth and character.
May we be some of them who loved You, finding all that we were looking for in Christ Jesus. We pray this in His name. Amen.

Today's Bible verses-

Is. 40:31 "NKJV) "But those who wait on the LORD
shall renew their strength; They shall mount up with
wings like eagles, they  shall run and not be weary,
they shall walk and not faint."

Is. 41:10 (NKJV) "Fear not, for I am with you; be not
dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you,
I will uphold you with My righteous right hand.

Rom. 12:1, 2 (NKJV) "I beseech you therefore brethren,
by the mercies of God, that you present your bodies
living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God, which is your
reasonable service. (v. 2) And do not be conformed to
this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your
mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable
       and perfect will of God."

During that time Dad rejected any idea of religion, saying, "I don't need a crutch."

Yet the day came when his attitude toward spiritual things would change forever."

#94 The Cost of Being a Person of God

Dr. Wesley L. Duewel: No one becomes a person of God by accident. No one becomes a person of God overnight. We become children of God in a moment
[through faith in Christ Jesus]; we become people of God over a period of time.

A casual commitment to Christ will not make you godly or Christlike. No one becomes a person of God except by a deliberate set of the soul. You cannot earn nearness to Christ, but there is a price to pay. (Google image, The power of a praying wife).

#93 Others Recognize a Person of God

Dr. Wesley L. Duewel: When God puts His seal upon you, not only do God's children often recognize it, but the unsaved may discern something different about you. Even satan recognizes a person of God.

David, who was himself called a man of God, said, "Know that the LORD has set apart the godly for himself; the LORD will hear when I call to him" (Ps. 4:3). One way God sets us apart is by putting His seal on our prayer life and giving us many answers to prayer. (Google image, Woman considers God's purpose for her life).

The Flood that Follows Your Storm

Ron P. Hutchcraft- I can walk faster than Hurricane Florence moved at times. Two miles an hour! (Google image, Hurricane Florence).
Some hurricanes roar in for a brief but destructive visit. Not Florence. She crawled through the Carolinas, overwhelming historic rainfall totals. And caused flooding where floods have never gone before. The storm is gone.

#92 You Must be a Person of God

Dr. Wesley L. Duewel: Your highest goal as a Christian leader must be to be a person of God. Only a few people in Bible times were given this title—Moses, Samuel, David, Elijah, Elisha, Timothy, and some others.

Undoubtedly the term could have been appropriately used for leaders like Isaiah, Daniel, and Paul. Perhaps there is no higher honor to be given to anyone than to be considered to be a man or woman of God. (Google image, Spiritual discipline).

#91 The Anointing is for You, If . . .

Dr. Wesley L. Duewel: The anointing of the Spirit is God's provision for you as His child and even more for you as a leader of His people. God knows your need and delights to meet your need.

We do not deserve such a boon, but it is ours to ask for, seek, and receive. It is not automatic; it is not for the spiritually indolent, careless, or disobedient. It is God's supernatural extra added to your best. (Google image, Preacher clipart)

One Tsunami Warning

Ron Hutchcraft- They may never know how many died when the tsunami swept over the city of Palu in Indonesia last week. So many were just swept out to sea. (Google image, Tsunami warning)

The videos are absolutely heart-wrenching. Those people were gone before they even knew what hit them.

#90 The Anointing Places God's Seal Upon You

Dr. Wesley L. Duewel: It is the evidence of divine approval. The Spirit gives this for the sake of the ones ministered to, but it is also God's affirmation of you as His representative and of your ministry on his behalf.

The fruit of the Spirit confers Christlikeness of personality and character and is a seal of your relationship to God. It is a God-given trademark. It is a ministry evidence of His presence and endorsement. (Google image, Man speaking to crowd)

#89 The Anointing Confers Spiritual Authority

Dr. Wesley L. Duewel- The Spirit enables you to exercise the authority in prayer which you have as a child of God (Eph 3:12).

This includes confident boldness in coming to the throne of grace and a holy confidence and boldness in claiming the promises of God (Heb. 4:16; 10:19-22).(Google image, Man praying in pew).

The Lord Speaks

Philip Yancey: We can find nearly every argument in the book of Job about why there is pain in the world, but the arguing never seems to help Job much.

His is a crisis of relationship more than a crisis of doubt. Can he trust God? Job wants one thing above all else: an appearance by the one Person who can explain his miserable fate. He wants to meet God Himself, face to face. (Google image, God Speaks)

#88 You Can be Anointed for Service

Dr. Wesley L. Duewel: The Holy Spirit is given you to anoint you for effective living and for effective service. These can be real, and they are interrelated.

     1. The anointing gives you liberty and skill. The Spirit's anointing frees from any kind of fear — fear of failure, of the future, and of your overwhelming task. He frees from fear of Satan and of people, which is always a snare (Prov. 29:25). He gives strong confidence in God, His Word, and in His wisdom and
power. (Google image, The anointing oil

#87 The Spirit's Anointing Enables You Spiritually

Dr. Wesley L. Duewel: While the anointing of the Spirit provides God's special enabling for you physically, mentally, and emotionally, it's greatest significance in your ministry is spiritual.

Among the blessings involved are these: a. It makes you aware of God's presence with you and his touch upon you. (Google image, Preacher drawing)
