Jean's book: SO YOU PLAN TO MARRY A MAN

About the Author

Jean Oathout has written 31 poems of particular interest to women preparing for marriage from her experience as a wife and mother.

There are six related verses per devotion, a corresponding Scripture, and a short personal prayer for application.

She’d been journaling in ’85-‘86, when she believed the Lord instructed her to share the information in verse form for women someday.

She believes that the book she’s offering will be a blessing to women who someday wish to marry, as well as to those who are already married.

There is much helpful information included. Parents, as well as pastors and counselors, are encouraged to examine this book, in the hopes that they’ll see the benefits of sharing it.

Readers will be encouraged, challenged, and blessed by this testimony of hers.

As an older and much wiser woman now, YOU PLAN TO MARRY A MAN can be helpful for women who’re thinking seriously of marrying, and may be used to help them find guidance from God for this very important time in their lives.

This book of hers can help women learn how to love and support the men they plan to marry.

She prays that the wisdom she imparts will be embraced by the readers, thus strengthening their marriage resolve.

Folks usually laughed at the title, but they were interested just the same, in what would be offered. She believes the Lord gave her the title. She believes too, the Lord helped her accomplished it, and therefore gives Him all the credit.

Jean's Personal Bio

I was born in Tacoma Park, MA in 1937. My parents, brother and I lived in Vienna, VA. As my father died when I was 6, mother remarried when I was 11 and we moved to Rotterdam Jct. NY. I married in ’55 to an Air Force man and we had 3 sons together.

After a divorce, I remarried and had another son. My husband and I, and young son, moved to Vermont in’83, where we homesteaded. Our life was a challenge, but rewarding, as we grew most of our food and lived without electricity most of 17 years. My sons are all grown now, and three have families of their own.

As we both had issues, I found it hard to be a submissive wife. I wanted to leave, but I believed the Lord wanted me to stay and learn how to deal with life His way. I’d begun to journal, and He challenged me to put it in poetic form, with the thought that the He desired me to share it with other women some day.

In ’99, I had to leave to get the inward healing I needed. Over the years I’ve become aware that I needed to forgive and to go on with life. I am connected with a good church now, and have many friends here in Madrid, NY. I enjoy serving in the prayer ministry, working on posts for my blog, www.jean-oathout.blogspot.com
