FAITH LIKE THE BIRDS

Bird viewing may change during the winter.

Usually, during the winter months, leaves have fallen, people hide inside, and birds have flown away. But if we look closely, we may find the occasional feathered friend. My friend noticed two little birds that always sat on the same bare bush as he walked past it. He knew the same two birds would be there every day without exception. (Photo courtesy of pixabay)

My friend’s experience reminds me of the verses in Matthew where Jesus says God provides for the birds. Without fail, He gives them everything they need to survive. He never forgets one day or gets too busy the next. God is there constantly, just as the birds were in my friend’s experience.

God’s consistent care for birds demonstrates His faithfulness toward His children. Just as my friend assumed the two birds would sit on that bush each day, we can know God will care for us and not abandon us. We may still struggle, but our struggle allows God to provide for us and show us how much He values us—even more so than the rest of His creation.

As we look around, we can see the many ways God provides for His creation. We breathe air, hear the gentle roar of the ocean, or watch the sunrise. God makes all these things possible, even when we take them for granted, and we should thank Him for them.

Trust God to be faithful in the little things in life, and when you do, it will be easier to trust Him with the bigger things.

"Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they?"

Matthew 6:26 NIV

Faith like the Birds

Let's pray-

Father, as people usually keep inside during the cold, winter months, so most birds fly to warmer climates to stay until the weather warms up again.
There are a few birds who remain in the north over winter, and we can get to see them occasionally, in some areas. Without failure, You provide their food one way or another; in nature or by the supplies made available by some people who love to see them at their feeders.
Your consistant care for those little birds demonstrates Your faithfulness toward Your chidren, too. We know that You will not abandon us, though we may have to struggle at times. We know You value us more than the rest of the creation.
As we look around us, we can see the many ways that You provide; the air we breathe, the gentle roar of the oceans, the beautiful sunrises and sunsets. You make all these things possible, though we often take them for granted.
May we learn to thank You for the little things in life, as it brings joy of heart, and enables us to trust You with our bigger things we'll face. As we consider Your provisions for the birds, that they don't need to store away in barns the supplies for the winters, we can be confident that we are more valuable than they are, and our care is important to You.
We will be more determined to thank You for Your love for us!
In the name of our Savior, Jesus, we pray this. Amen

Quotes for today-

~ Mary Southerland- "Faith is a willingness to step out in mid-air, no safety net in sight – trusting God to be there – at the point of our greatest need."

April Newbell- "Sometimes God does not calm the storms around us, but He calms us while the storm rages. We can be still and know God will never leave or forsake us. We can trust Him with our storms."

Words of wisdom-

~ God is stirred at the sound of your intercession. It causes the ministering angels to be dispatched on your behalf.

Today's special verse-

“‘I am the Alpha and the Omega,’ says the Lord God, ‘who is, and who was, and who is to come, the Almighty’” (Revelation 1:8).

Kelly Balarie   "When I face an impossible situation, I gaze at the unchanging nature of my incredible God. The more I know Him, the more I know that I’m going to be okay."
