PRAYING IN DIFFICULT TIMES

~ Glenn Packiam- "Author and theologian Rissell Moore described noticing the errie silence in the Russian orphanage where he adopted his boys. Someone later explained that the babies had stopped crying because they learned that no one would respond to their cries.   (Google image)

When we face difficult times, we too can feel that no one hears. And worst of all, we can feel that God Himself doesn't listen to our cries or see our tears. But He does! And that's why we need the language of petition and protest found especially in the book of Psalms.

The Psalmists petition for God's help and also protest their situation to Him. In Psalm 61, David brings his petitions and protests before his Creator, stating, 'I call to you, I call as my heart grows faint; lead me to the rock that is higher that I' (v. 2) David cries out to God because he knows that only He is his 'refuge' and 'strongtower' (v. 3).

Praying the petitions and protests of the psalms is a way of affirming God's sovereignty and appealing to His goodness and faithfulness. They're proof of the intimate relationship we can experience with God. In difficult moments, we can all be tempted to believe the lie that He doesn't care. But He does. He hears us and is with us."

Dear Jesus, help me to offer You my petitions, protests and praise."

~Quotes for today-

- "The fear of the Lord produces confidence, fearlessness, and security. It swallows up all other fears, including the fear of man." (Taken from John Bevere's book, p. 18, THE AWE OF GOD)

Linda McClung- "We must grieve our losses, no matter what kind, but these troubles are momentary. They do not last into eternity. We choose whether to become bitter or draw closer to Christ. When you suffer loss, draw close to the One who heals all our diseases and lifts our troubles."

~Words of wisdom-

God loves to move in our messes! Don't chase clouds, dig wells! We have a giving God and a gracious God. We have a God who loves to revive. We have a God who loves His church. We have a God who knows His church is not yet ready for Christ's return. Oh, may God send His cleansing work, His purifying work, His motivaitng work, His enlivening work today!

~Words from the Father in a journal:

"I will show you from day to day what you need to do. Trust Me."

~Today's words of faith, by Sharon Jaynes :

"From my earliest years as a Christian, I experienced the power of prayer to change a man’s life—to strengthen a man’s resolve, to protect a man’s heart, and to mature a man’s faith. My first-hand encounter with God’s faithfulness to hear our pleas for the men in our lives began with my father and continues with my husband and son.

As a wife, you have the power to open the floodgates of heaven through prayer on your husband’s behalf.

As a mother, you have the privilege to stand in the gap to bring God’s will to earth as it is in heaven on your child’s behalf.

As a friend, you have the position to intercede for and link arms with someone you love on their behalf.

Through prayer, God’s power and provision flow into the lives of His people.

In my book, Praying for Your Husband from Head to Toe
I show wives how to cover their husbands in Scriptural prayer from top to bottom. However, you can use this pattern of prayer to pray for anyone.'

#12 of 23 Parallels between Moses and Messiah:

Through Moses, God judged the Egyptian gods (Exodus 12:12).

Messiah confronted and cast out demonic powers, exhibiting authoritive judgment over them (Matthew 8:28-34; Luke 11:20).
