FROM DARKNESS TO LIGHT

Dave Branon- Nothing could pull Aakash out ot his dark depression. Severely injured in a truck accident, he was taken to a missionary hospital in Southwest Asia. Eight operations repaired his broken bones, but he couldn't eat. Depression set in. His family depended on him to provide, which he couldn't do, so his world grew darker. (Google image, Man in depression)

One day a visitor read to Askash from the gospel of John in his language and prayed for him. Touched by the hope of God's free gift of forgiveness and salvation through Jesus, he placed his faith in Him.

His depression soon left. When he returned home, he was afraid at first to mention his newfound faith. Finally, though, he told his family about Jesus — and six of them trusted Him as well!

John's gospel is a beacon of light in a world of darkness. In it we read that "whoever believes in [Jesus] shall not perish but have eternal life" (3:16). We discover that "whoever hears [Jesus'] word and believes [God] has eternal life" (5:24).

And we hear Jesus say, "I am the bread of life. Whoever comes to me will never go hungry" (6:35). Indeed, "whoever lives by the truth comes into the light" (3:21).

The troubles we face may be great, but Jesus is greater. He came to give us "life . . . to the full" (10:10). Like Aakash, may you place your faith in Jesus — the hope of the world and the light for all humanity.

Our prayer- "Dear heavenly Father, thank You for the hope found in Your Son."

#1 Testimony- GrJean

"I first encountered Christ when He stood beside me in Sunday School one day when I was about 4. He didn’t say anything, but it made me aware of His Presence from then on. When I was a teen, I invited Him into my heart and life, and have been His ever since then, (over 80 years). As an adult, I learned about the baptism of the Holy Spirit, and after being baptized like the Apostle Peter commanded in Acts 2:38, I received the gift of the Spirit, with speaking in the heavenly language (tongues). My life is lived for the furtherance of the Kingdom of Christ until He calls me home, or in the return of Christ to gather His Bride, who has made herself ready to meet Him in the air, to be with Him for eternity. Amen!"

#1 Hymn  Nothing but the Blood

Robert Lowry (1826-1899) has provided us with many of the most venerable nineteenth-century texts and tunes from the United States. The Philadelphia-born author and composer of this hymn was a popular Baptist preacher and educator who served churches in Pennsylvania, New York City, Brooklyn, and Plainfield, New Jersey. Lowry, a graduate of Bucknell University, was a professor of belles lettres in the University, receiving a D.D. in 1875. He became known for his gospel songs while ministering in Brooklyn, collaborating often with William H. Doane in producing some of the most popular Sunday school song collections of his day.

 Some encouraging words-

Jesus has come from the Father, to tell us that He is our source of peace. We're to believe that the Holy Spirit of Christ, Who dwells within believers, is to help us fulfill the mission God has given us.

#22 of 23 Parallels between Moses and Messiah:

In his parting words, Moses commissioned Joshua to lead the people into possessing the land, assuring him the Lord will be with him (Deut. 31:7-8)

In His parting words, Messiah commissioned His disciples to take the gospel to all the nations, assuring them He will be with them always, even to the end of the age (Matt. 28:16-20).
