THE POWER OF THE BLOOD

THE POWER OF THE BLOOD

The price Jesus paid with His blood was for the redemption of the entire human race. Is it even possible to place a price on His sacrifice?

Peter said, in 1 Peter 1:18-19: "For you know that it was not with perishable things such as silver or gold that you were redeemed from the empty way of life handed down to you from your ancestors, but with the precious blood of Christ, a lamb without blemish or defect."

When we accept by faith the covering of our sins with the redeeming blood of Jesus, God has promised to not remember our transgressions. Hebrews 8:12-13: "For I will forgive their wickedness and will remember their sins no more." (This is a reference to Jeremiah 31:31-34.) But, the Bible tells us there is even more power in the blood!

The blood of Jesus....

...rescues us from the dominion of darkness (Colossians 1:13-14);
...justifies us before God (Romans 5:9);
...makes us holy (Hebrews 10:10);
...redeems us (Ephesians 1:7);
...cleanses our consciences (Hebrews 9:14);
...brings us near to God (Ephesians 2:13);
...gives us confidence to enter the Most High Place (Hebrews 10:19);
...purifies us from all sin (1 John 1:7);
...provides victory over Satan (Revelation 12:11).

Questions to Ponder:

The blood of Jesus is not representative or illustrative. There is actual power for us today in the blood He shed. Are you living in weakness or in power? Consider all the things the Bible says about the blood of Jesus. Are you looking at your present circumstances from this perspective?

There is Power in the Blood
(Hymn by Lewis E. Jones, 1899)

Would you be free from the burden of sin?
There's power in the blood, power in the blood;
Would you o'er evil a victory win?
There's wonderful power in the blood.

There is power, power, wonder working power
In the blood of the Lamb;
There is power, power, wonder working power
In the precious blood of the Lamb.

Would you be free from your passion and pride?
There's power in the blood, power in the blood;
Come for a cleansing to Calvary's tide;
There's wonderful power in the blood.

Would you be whiter, much whiter than snow?
There's power in the blood, power in the blood;
Sin stains are lost in its life giving flow.
There's wonderful power in the blood.

Would you do service for Jesus your King?
There's power in the blood, power in the blood;
Would you live daily His praises to sing?
There's wonderful power in the blood.

Let's pray-

     Father, the price that Jesus paid for our redemption isn't even possible to price! You made it possible that when we accept by faith what Christ did to cleanse us from our sins and forgive our wickedness, You will remember them no more.
     The blood of Jesus rescues us from darkness, justifies us, makes us holy, redeems us, cleanses our consciences, brings us near to You, gives us confidence to enter the Most High Place where You dwell, purifies us from our sins and provides victory over the evil one, Satan, himself and his cohorts!
     The blood of Jesus provides actual power for us, so we don't have to live in weakness, but can live victorious lives that honor and serve Him. May we draw upon this power that we're gifted with!
     In His name we pray. Amen.

#46 Testimony- Butch

"Laundromats can be fun. True story. God brings me divine appointments wherever I go. Once I was reading my Bible and a 2-year-old boy came in with His mom. He had 2 plastic spoons and was beating away at everything as it was a drum. He looked at me and smiled and I asked him if he was a drummer. His mom said yes, that is all he wants to do. I asked if I could help him, and she said yes.

I took my laundry basket and turned it over. He came over and smiled. I said, "Those are great drumsticks you have, can I see them?" He proudly gave them to me, and I beat out some sounds on my makeshift drum. Then, I started to teach him some easy drum beats. He smiled like it was Christmas morning. We played for about an hour. He was a natural drummer at 2. He came to me several times and hugged me. His smile made me smile.

     If I wasn't on the streets, I would have never been able to bless him. He had no dad, and I stepped in to be a mentor. God made a provision to be a blessing to a young kid who appreciated me. It made my day.

   What the devil meant for bad, God will turn for good. Don't look at your circumstances; look to the One who changes your circumstances. You can have fun anywhere. If I wasn't there, I would have never been able to make a difference in this little boy's life. I prayed with the family. You can make a difference anywhere you go. Thank you, Jesus."
