Cecelia Lester shares with us, "I deal with symptoms of Seasonal Affective Disorder."
"They come into play after the Christmas-New Year’s rush.
For several winters in a row, I always seemed worn out. Our life was blah.
My husband’s health, as well as mine, precluded us from leading the exciting life of the 'Golden years.'
Our only son, slightly disabled from a birth defect, was unemployed again.
I began my day by rote, reaching for my prayer list, then my Bible.
One dark January day, God allowed me to find a scripture that spoke to me and changed my outlook. I read that verse several times:
"So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand." Isaiah 41:10 NIV
“. . . do not fear. . .” I didn’t realize until then I had been afraid of what others thought of me. I was quiet in groups. I didn’t realize it, but I began to doubt my faith.
“. . . I am with you . . .” He is with me? He experiences what I feel, the rundown feeling I awaken with; the things that make my life uneventful? Yes, God is with me. He told Isaiah and he tells me.
“. . . for I am your God.” He is my God. He watches over me. I can be completely honest with Him. He will listen and not condemn me for my thoughts.
“I will strengthen you and help you. . .” He will make me stronger. He will come to my aid when I need Him, no matter when. God provides me comfort, healing, or encouragement, whatever I need.
“. . . I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.” I no longer feel I am going through life alone. God is with me and gives me the strength to walk through the experiences I face in life.
My prayer for others is that each of them will come to know that God is their God and is present with them as they go through the trials of this earthly life.
Find a scripture passage that speaks to you in your need. Study it. Look for ways to apply it to your circumstance and give God the glory for what He does through those words."

This Scripture, Isaiah 41:10, was the first verse the Lord gave me [Jean], the evening I surrendered my heart and life to Him at a youth meeting at the First Presbyterian Church in Schenectady, NY. He surely has been with me these 60+ years of walking with Him!

Today’s treasure truth
#24: If you are “born again”, you are healed by His stripes. 1 Peter 2:24
Our thought for today: Remember where your hope is anchored: Jesus Christ! The Cross is the tree to weep at and anchor to!
