#6 Of the Church

Dr. R. A. Torrey shares with us today: "Now let us look briefly at another one of the four phrases, {from my post on 4/4, #1 Prayer Without Ceasing}, the phrase "of the church."

"The prayer that God particularly delights to answer is untied prayer.

There is power in the prayer of a single individual, and the prayer of individuals has wrought great things, but there is far greater power in united prayer.

Our Lord Jesus taught this same great truth in Matthew 18:19,20, "Again I say unto you, that if two of you shall agree on earth as touching any thing that they shall ask, it shall be done for them of my Father which is in heaven.

For where two or three are gathered together in my name, there am I in the midst of them."

When God, by His Holy Spirit, puts the same burden on two hearts, and they thus in the unity of the Spirit pray for the same thing, there is not power enough on earth, or in hell to keep them from getting it.

Our Heavenly Father will do for them the thing that they ask."

The next post by Dr. Torrey will be 4/25 - #7 For Him

Our prayer today: Father, cause us to reach out to other folks who know how to pray, so we can agree on issues that concern us. May we sense Your Spirit's help and guidance while we pray, and who and what to pray for. In Jesus' name, amen.

Our prayer challenge: We cannot bow to the fear of man. We need to trash our idols.

Bible Verse today: Ps. 38:9,15 "Lord, all my desire is before you:
and my groaning is not hidden from You. For in You, O LORD, I hope: You will hear, O Lord my God."

Our quote today: Our Daily Bread 3/7/13

           “All that I want is in Jesus;
           He satisfies, joy He supplies;
       Life would be worthless without Him,
          all things in Jesus I find. –Loes

 Our needs will never exhaust God’s supply.”

Our thought today: The Apostle Paul spoke of his being on trial alone, while in jail. Do you sometimes feel that you're all alone? He didn't have friends with him, but he had Jesus; and so do you!
