#31 Acting Faith

Dr. Wesley L. Duewel: Throne life includes the privilege under the guidance of the Spirit to use the delegated authority of the name of Jesus and to give the command of faith.

Huegel
has called this a kind of "executive authority," which he considers the highest privilege of throne life. (Enthroned Christian,35)

This is the most amazing privilege of all. It is a special form of acting faith. When Moses at the red Sea cried unto the Lord, God answered, "Why are you crying out to me? Tell the Israelites to move on" (Exod. 14:15).

Moses had faith. In the previous two verses he told Israel how God was going to deliver them.

"Do not be afraid. Stand firm and you will see
the deliverance the LORD will bring you today....
The LORD will fight for you; You need only to be still."

He believed God would answer immediately, and  yet he "cried out" to the Lord. God's answer was, "You don't need to keep asking. Act your faith."

Israel had been guided by God. Moses had been interceding. Now what he needed was not more prayer but the acting out of the faith of his heart.

When Elijah, by God's guidance (2 Kings 2:6), let Elisha to Jordan, he did not pray for the water to divide. He took his cloak and rolled it up and struck the water, which immediately parted (v. 8).

When Elisha returned to carry on the Lord's commission, he called out, "Where now is the LORD, the God of Elijah?" (v. 14), and struck the water again.

He found the Lord was right there, and the water divided before him. This enacted faith is a privilege of the throne life.

People who are accustomed to prevailing prayer will often meet crises when they must express their faith by action. Because they are enthroned, they will be able to obey God, and He will validate their faith.

The Command of Faith

The command of faith is probably the most dramatic form of throne authority. Both the old and New testaments contain many examples of using such a command, which is possible to us because of our throne life. It will be discussed in detail later.

Father, we're thankful for the privilege to
 come to You in prayer.
We ask for directions in what we attempt to do for
Your Kingdom, that we'll honor You and bring
folks to a saving knowledge of Jesus Christ.
As You reveal Your will, help us act it out
just as You direct us, and may we not question
Your directions, but trust You completely.
Keep us close to You in our private prayers
and worship, so as to remain strong in
faith and obedience.
I ask this in the name of Jesus. Amen.

Today’s Bible verse: 2 Kings 15:3 a "And he did that which was right in the sight of the LORD."

Today’s quote by Andrew Murry:

"We need God to show us how our lack of prayer indicates unfaithfulness to our consecration vows to give God all of our hearts and lives. Our limited prayers, with the excuses we make for them, are a greater sin than we know. It shows that we have little taste or relish for fellowship with God and that our faith rests more in our own work and efforts than on the power of God."
(Taken from p. 67 of The Ministry of Intercession by Andrew Murry)

Our thought today-

Our world view must change if we are to see things as Christ sees them. He wants us to be confident in who we are in Him, knowing that our faith will direct the outcome of our choices. In Gal. 5, we read of the Spirit's fruits. There's to be a difference in us as Christians.

Our question today-

If Christ's desire is to change you to be more like the Father, what is the hindrance in your cooperating with Him? Ask Him, He'll tell you.

A popular post: Judgmental Opinions

Jean Oathout shares with us an important  lesson she is learning.

I found out that my personal opinion isn't worth much to others, when it is given in a judgmental attitude.

What I've accepted over the years to be my own "standard" isn't necessarily what God expects others to have..."
