The Price of the Promise

He promised us eternity with no thoughts of our past
If all we are and hope to be upon Him we have cast
He promised us a future with no fear of where we've been
No fear of rightful consequence for years of selfish sin

If we would stop to contemplate the precious Price He paid
The Price of our forgiveness when upon that cross He laid
His bruised and bleeding body He had taken for our cause
And let that scene of agony cause us to stop and pause

From all that tends to captivate our minds and hearts today
And let His Spirit take us to that time so far away
When in that quiet garden drops of blood came from His brow
As He knelt 'neath the burden of our sins that we do now

And cried out to His Father to remove this guilt of sin
If there could be another way to save the souls of men
But if there was no other way which He knew there was not
That He would give Him strength to pay the Price that we forgot

The Price that was demanded at the breaking of God's Law
The Law of Truth and Righteousness that stands in holy awe
Before the throne of glory as the pathway to God's throne
Where only pure and holy ones stand purchased as God's own

Because they see in Jesus the epitome of Him
Who loves us more than we can know more than the host of them
Who have not ever fallen to that deadly curse of sin
The curse that here has fallen on the helpless souls of men

Who cannot of themselves provide a passport to God's throne
For all the years of sinfulness their evil hearts have sown
In seeking self-indulgence at the cost of other souls
Who likewise turned from serving God to try to reach our goals

But if we truly take Him at the promise in God's Word
To be restored to glory if we follow what is heard
Each morning from His Spirit as we take that time in prayer
Applying from His scriptures all the things He shows us there

Then we will see fulfillment of His purpose in this life
As we will know His Presence through His peace in every strife
And by His grace be fitted for our place upon His throne
Because He'll see His image in the ones who are His own

(John 14:1-6; Isaiah 65:16, 17; Revelation 3:19-22)

Father, we see the price Jesus paid for our breaking of the Father's law of Truth and Righteousness, as undeserving and completely awesome!
As only pure and holy people will stand at God's throne someday, ones who've been purchased by Christ's own shed blood on the cross of Calvary, we cry out to You to remove our guilt of sin.
We understand that there's nothing in and of ourselves that would provide a passport to Your throne, for all the years that our sinfulness and evil hearts have sown.
Forgive us for our self-indulgence to try to reach our personal goals, and all that tends to captivate our minds and hearts today.
As we remember that Jesus knelt 'neath the burden of our sins in the quiet garden that day, some 2,000 years ago, may we allow the Holy Spirit to speak to us of the price of the promise He gave through His death.
We ask this in Christ's name, Amen.

Thank You for forgiving our sins and wiping us clean, and for purifying us too!

Today's Bible verses-

(1 Timothy 3:16) "And without controversy great is the
mystery of godliness: God was manifest in the flesh,
justified in the Spirit, seen of angels preached unto the
Gentiles, believed on in the world, received up into  glory."

(1 Timothy 2:5) "For there is one God, and one mediator
between God and men, the Man Christ Jesus."

(1 Thessalonians 5:23) "And the very God of peace
sanctify you wholly; and I pray God your whole spirit
soul and body be preserved blameless unto the coming
     of our Lord Jesus Christ."

(Luke 19:10) "For the Son of man is come to seek and
to save that which was lost."

Today's quote-

Keila Ochoa- "Only God can cleanse a heart from sin. And as we looked at the mountains, we admired the pure whiteness that scrubbing and bleaching a piece of cloth dyed in scarlet red can't achieve. When we follow Peter's teaching, "Repent, then, and turn to God, so that your sins may be wiped out" (Acts 3:19), God forgives us and gives us a new life. Only through Jesus's sacrifice can we receive what no one else can give—a pure heart. What a wonderful gift!"

Today's question-

What are some promises for those who seek God?

Here is a short list:

  • When we seek God with all our hearts, we'll find Him.
  • His Word, the Bible, is the Life-providing food for us.
  • The closer we get to Him, the stronger our connection will be.
  • When we ask for what He wants done, it will be given us.
  • God's shaped hole within us will be filled by Him.
  • Jesus will be with us, no matter what!
  • Fellowship with other believers is an asset for helping us mature.
  • We can always talk with Jesus, meditate and worship Him.
  • Our desires will change, the more we come to Love Him.
  • We'll spend less time with those who make us uncomfortable.
  • We may be given a ministry to use our past experiences some day.
