20 of 60 Benefits of Praying in Tongues

Jean Oathout: Glenn Arekion says- "It does not take great insights for us to realize that we are living in perilous times. These are the last days. The news media reports calamities and horrific circumstances every day.

These are days that inspire fear in people's lives. In fact, Jesus said, 'Men's hearts will fail them for fear and for looking upon those things which are coming on the earth; for the powers of heaven shall be shaken' (Luke 21:26). (Google image, Woman praying).

How are the believers supposed to live in these days? Are we supposed to bury our heads in the sand like these things are not happening? Not so! In the midst of calamities and fearful days, God expects us to walk in victory.

How do we do that; and more importantly, while everybody is collapsing, how does the believer live effectively in the last days? Jude provides the answer:

  • Build your faithwalk by faith and not by sight.
  • Pray in the Holy Ghost—develop the habit of praying in tongues.
  • Keep yourselves in the love of God—walk in love.

Notice that praying in the Holy Ghost is an effective tool to live in the last days. It is God's antidote for the spirit of fear. Praying in tongues will build and stimulate your faith. When faith is present, fear crouches. Praying in tongues is a major weapon to stop the spirit of fear from running rampant in the last days and to prevent it from overwhelming and taking over your life. (p. 110)

Off duty police man wins souls

Father, in the midst of calamities and fearful days, we will look to You to help us walk in the victory Christ Jesus provided.
We need Your help to build and walk by  faith in our everyday lives by praying with Your Holy Spirit's power, direction and enlightenment.
May this become our habit in order for us to keep ourselves in Your love and to walk in love towards others. It is our desire that as believers, we'll live effectively in these last days through building up our most holy faith. (See Jude 1:20).
We pray this in the name of Jesus. Amen.

Today's Bible verses-

       Acts 1:5,8 (KJV) "For John truly baptized with water;
but ye shall be baptized with the Holy Ghost not many
days hence. (8) But ye shall receive power after that the
Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses
unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in
Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth."

1 Cor. 14:4 (MSG) "He who speaks in a [strange]
tongue edifies and improves himself, but he who
prophesies [interpreting the divine will and purpose
and teaching with inspiration] edifies and improves
the church and promotes growth [in Christian wisdom,
       piety, holiness, and happiness].

Jude 1:20 (NIV) "But you, dear friends, build yourselves
up in your most holy faith and pray in the Holy Spirit."

Is. 28:11 (KJV) "For with stammering lips and another
tongue will he speak to this people."

Today's quote-

~ Glenn Arekion- "The apostle Peter was transformed from a weak and insipid believer to a great and powerful preacher after he spoke in tongues. [See Acts 2:38]. This is the same man who a few days prior, had denied the Lord three times because of his fear of death. (See Matt. 26:26:69-75).
After speaking in tongues, however, he was able to boldly and fluently proclaim the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Peter, full of the Holy Spirit, preached a powerful message that brought conviction to the thousands under the sound of his voice. (See Acts 2:16-19). (p.83).

Today's question-

Are you armed with faith that God can give you the
      power of the Spirit?

God's desire and will is to bless us with the ability to follow through with the calling on our lives. When our theology follows with faith, miracles can happen.
Accepting the Holy Spirit into our being, with speaking in tongues, is easy, but seems difficult to some, as we're to humble ourselves and believe that God is Real, and that He wants to indwell us.
Opening ourselves to Him, with no reservations, is the key to receiving His Spirit. Acts 2:39 is our promise as believers, that the Lord calls us to receive the Holy Ghost, with the evidence of tongues, as He sees fit.  (See Acts 2:4).
