#71 Your Prayer Controls Your Work

Dr. Wesley L. Duewel: As a leader your usefulness is dependent upon your prayer. Nothing brings more blessing and effectiveness as you visit your people.

Nothing puts more of the seal of God upon you before the community. Nothing does more to win the hearts of your people or give you more spiritual stature and respected leadership than your prayer life. Google image, Lessons on prayer.)
Nothing else can keep you spiritually refreshed, with messages constantly from the heart of God. Nothing does more to bring the anointing of God upon your leadership.

It was the insistence of E. M. Bounds, apostle of prayer, that prayerless leaders hinder God's cause.

"God wants consecrated men because they can pray and will pray . . . As prayerless men are in His way, hinder Him, and prevent the success of His cause, so likewise unconsecrated men are useless to Him, and hinder him carrying out His gracious plans, and in executing his noble purposes in redemption."

Your people need to feel God's power upon you, God's voice speaking through you, God's touch as you touch their lives. God's power in your ministry comes not from the fluency, loudness of voice, or your ability to express your ideas.

Anointing is difficult to describe, but once the people see the real anointing of the Holy Spirit upon you, from then on they know when you have it and when you don't.

Prayer prepares you for every aspect of your work. Prayer brings the divine additive that makes a recognizable difference in your life, your words, and your work. Prayer makes you the person of God who is loved and respected.

Prayer brings divine help

Father, as our leaders learn to depend upon the importance of their praying, may they quickly realize  there's nothing that will bring more blessing and effectiveness to their visits to their people.
Let them know nothing puts more of Your seal upon their communities than their effective prayers.
Help them understand that if they want to win the hearts of their people, they must give time to develop their prayer life for their spiritual stature and respected leadership in their communities.
As their people feel Your power upon them, hear Your voice speaking through them, and sense Your touch on their lives, they will sense the anointing.
Once we see the real anointing of the Holy Spirit upon our leaders, we will know when they have it and when they don't.
Increase the anointing to where it brings the divine additive that makes a recognizable difference in their lives, words and their work as our leaders. May they become persons who are loved and respected.
We ask this in Jesus' name. Amen.

Today's Bible verses-

Eph. 2:10 (KJV) "For we are his workmanship, created in
Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before
ordained that we should walk in them."

Eph. 6:18 (Christian Standard Bible) "Pray at all times
in the Spirit with every prayer and request, and stay alert
with all perseverance and intercession for all the saints."

John 6:63 (KJV) "It is the spirit that quickeneth; the
flesh profiteth nothing: the words that I speak unto you,
they are spirit, and they are life
."

Today's quote-

Jim Cymbala- No one has the right to adjust the gospel or revise God's plan for his church. Those precious things are not yours or mine; they are God's. We need to stop fussing with them. We need to submit to the heavenly design laid down long ago . . . To go into the power of the gospel, or of prayer, or the Holy Spirit, or divine love is to plunge ever deeper and deeper into God's well. Every man or woman used by God has gone down into this vast reservoir." (Taken from p. 117 of FRESH WIND FRESH FIRE.)

C. Peter Wagner shares with us that "Intercession is not one of the 25 spiritual gifts mentioned specifically as gifts in the New Testament.

But, like the gift of exorcism, I believe it should be added to the list."
