Power in the Promises

So many precious promises are waiting in God's Word
To be applied to everyday and draw us heavenward
From focusing on petty things that keep us busy here
So busy blessings we might have most rarely do appear

For Satan knows the power that those promises possess
He knows that if we lean on them his cunning can't distress
Us when we are oppressed by him and evil things he does
That weaken and destroy the faith in those who put their trust

In people not in God alone who only knows the heart
Who daily offers out to us His hand to have a part
In His work of salvation that's much larger than we know
That's meant to touch the hearts of those in every place we go

To strengthen and encourage both them and ourselves as well
As sharing of God's promises will bless the source who tells
The hearer who can see in them the evidence of faith
That's strengthened in the one who shares the goodness of God's grace

And with that faith comes power to stand firmly for God's Truth
No matter what the consequence that leads to our abuse
When we live by what we profess the way Christ lived for us
To give by His Example how the saints can daily trust

That they are in God's presence where no evil can control
Their thought their words their actions as by grace God's made them whole
And every day that's focused on His Word and Him alone
Makes them and us a channel by which Truth and Life are known

For what they are is Jesus Who abides our steps each day
Who by His Holy Spirit keeps us in the narrow Way
Where nothing can offend us that our God has not foreseen
And made for a provision whereupon our faith might lean

But only as we're focused daily on the things He shares
Those things He's scattered through His Word assuring us He cares
About even the smallest things pertaining to His plan
To make again His glory be the center of each man

And a woman who will love Him even more than life itself
Abandoning the things of earth as well as all things else
That keeps them from experience that only comes from God
Empowering each step we take along the path we trod.
Colossians 1:9-29
Power in the Promises

Let's pray-
Father, we see that there are precious promises waiting for us in Your Word that can be applied to our everyday busyness, and that can draw us heavenward.
The evil one is determined to weaken and destroy the faith in  those who put their faith and trust in you alone. We will look to You, as You know our hearts and what it is You ask us to do.
May we be busy strengthening and encouraging others every place we go, keeping focused on Your Word and You alone, to make us channels through which Truth and Life can be known.
Your Holy Spirit abides our steps each day, keepin
g us in the narrow Way, where nothing can offend us that You have not made provision for.
Throughout Your Word are scattered promises to assure us of Your care, even in the smallest things pertaining to Christ's plan to make His glory be the center of our lives.
We ask for Your help to stay faithful to Him
Amen

Words of wisdom-
~ Why do we have trials and tribulation? So God's power can rise up within us to be victorious in the middle of it. We're to be dependent upon God for everything.
~ What does the "middle" look like? When we come through trials and tribulation, Jesus is the Victor!

Thinking matters. Thinking is the ability to objectively weigh information and make reasonable judgments. According to Alison Doyle, "Employers want job candidates who can evaluate a situation using logical thought to come up with the best solution. Someone with critical thinking skills can be trusted to make decisions on his or her own and does not need constant handholding.” No wonder virtually all industries consider thinking acumen as one of the top skills for potential employees.

You Are Not Your Own

Today's question-
Are you glorifying Christ in your life?
As Christians, we are to remember that Christ died for us, and lives again, that we may live. (See Rom. 6:11) His blood was shed for us, so that we would be saved from eternal death, and have life abundantly now. (John 10:10)
All things are lawful for us, but we don't have to be dominated by any. (See Rom. 6:14 (NIVWith a solid everyday relationship with Christ through quiet times with Him, we are free to choose to serve Him, rather than ourselves or Satan.
   Questions to ask ourselves:
Is what I'm considering helpful in building up my faith or others? Is it going to dominate me in a habit; such as, alcohol, drugs, porn, IPods, FaceBook, Instragram, twitter, food, work, attention, dramma, soda, coffee, money, sex, anger, jealously or manipulation?
We must rule over what could master us. (Rom. 6:12 (NIV)
We're not our own, we've been bought with a price. (See 1 Cor. 6:20 (NLT) We're not to allow things to rule over us, but to run to the Lord, pursuing righteousness in the face of temptation.
