Prayers of Thanksgiving

   Alvin Vandergriend-

Thank God for . . .

NEEDS MET"My God will meet all your needs according to his glorious riches in Christ Jesus (Phil. 4:19).

Thank You, Lord, for meeting my needsphysical, emotional, and spiritual. You are so generous with your riches. Thank you for the greatest gift of . . .

THE HOLY SPIRIT"If you then, though you are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in heaven give the Holy Spirit to those who ask him!"(Luke 11:13). (Prayer of gratitude)

For me to have Your Spirit, Father, is to have every spiritual blessing that You give
life, wisdom, power, guidance and the fruit of the Spirit. Thank You so much for . . .

STRENGTH"The eyes of the Lord range throughout the earth to strengthen those whose hearts are fully committed to him" (2 Chron. 16:9).

Thank You, God, for the strength to serve. You always know how to help. I am so             grateful that my. . .

PRAYERS HEARD"Know that the Lord has set apart the godly for himself; the Lord will hear when I call to him (Ps. 4:3)

God, I am so grateful that you are always ready to hear when I pray. I can hardly believe that I am so special to You that I have Your . . .

PEACE"Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid" (John 14:27).

Thank You, God, for giving me Your peace. In this world of noise, anxiety, and                 busyness it's what I really need. With that I have . . .

ETERNAL LIFE"God has given us eternal life, and this life is in His Son. He who has the Son has life; he who does not have the Son of God does not have life" (1 John 5:11-12).

Thank You, Father, for giving me the gift of eternal life—the life that is in Your Son, Jesus Chist. I've never had a better gift. Also, I have . . .

THE WORD"All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the man of God may be throroughly equipped for every good work" (2 Tim. 3:16-17).

Thank You, God, for giving me Your Word so that I am able to know the truth about You and how to truly live.

(Adapted from p. 107 in Love to Pray- 40 Day Devotional for Deepening Your Prayer Life by Alvin Vandergriend)

Let's pray-

Father, we see that You promise to meet our needs according to Christ's riches that He earned by submitting to Your plan of salvation for us. We know that His Spirit is offered to us, so we ask for that blessing!

With His Spirit within us, we have life, wisdom, power, guidance and the fruit of righteousness, found only in Him. Thank You for the strength to serve You in the way You're making plain to each of us.

We are so grateful that You are always ready to hear our prayers. We find out that You go beyond our thoughts and bless us with special blessings to show us Your love for us. This is especially true during troubling times when we tend to be afraid. Your peace comes when we really need it! Thank You!

It is in Jesus' name we pray and give thanks! Amen

681-685 one-line Scriptures for those of you who want to learn some more verses this week- or to review them from when they were first posted-

681- Ps. 25:10 "All the paths of the LORD are mercy and truth unto such as keep his covenant and his testimonies."

682- Ps. 65:2 "O thou that hearest prayer, unto thee shall all flesh come."

683- Ps. 67:3 "Let the people praise thee, O God; let all the people praise thee."

684- Ps. 2:11 "Serve the LORD with fear, and rejoice with trembling."

685- Ps. 92:2 "To show forth thy lovingkindness in the morning, and thy faithfulness every night."

Quote for today-

~ John MacArthur- "Jesus also promises to love those who love Him, and to disclose Himself and the Father to them. That supernatural union comes with loving Jesus Christ, a personal love relationship between the believer and Christ—not religion that simply cranks out the motions, goes to church, and walks through some kind of ritual—but an honest, deep, heartfelt, committed kind of love that obeys. To that kind of love comes the manifestation of God in all His fullness, which results in the genuine supernatural union Jesus promised." (pp. 82, 83 of How to Survive in a World of Unbelievers)

Words of wisdom-

~ We need spiritual vision, as our disobedience causes the ungodly to take note. The Spirit of God reveals when that love has been strangled. As we bare the image of God, created in His image, He delights in our obedience and brings this conviction of sin so we won't dishonor His name.

The Risk of Obeying God

Dr. Charles Stanley shares with us from his In Touch magazine of Nov. '13:

"As Christians, we can waste our lives standing on faith's shoreline, never venturing beyond ankle-deep water.

There we have little need for the Lord. After all, we are safe on the beach, far from danger of high waves and storms. . . "
