#15 God Selects the Gifts

C. Peter Wagner tells us that "Only God knows us well enough to decide what part of the Body we should be.

The Holy Spirit "distribut[es] to each one individually as He wills: 1 Cor. 12:11.

God has set the members in the Body "just as He pleased"  (see 1 Cor. 12:11.)

The gifts we receive come strictly at God's discretion and by His grace.

The biblical word most used for spiritual gift, charisman, contains the Greek word for grace, charis.

We don't work for our gifts and receive them as rewards. God graciously and wisely bestows them on us.

What, then, is our individual responsibility?

As in individual believers one of our highest priorities should be to discover which gifts God has given to us.

And then, we saw, we are to be "good stewards" of them (see 1 Peter 4:10.)

We can be good stewards by developing the gifts that we have and then using them in ministry for the glory of God."

Today’s post -#15  God Selects the Gifts , in the series taken from C. Peter Wagner’s book, PRAYER SHIELD, How to intercede for pastors, Christian leaders and others on the spiritual frontlines. (pg. 42) By Regal Books
The next post
is to be 8/8, -#16  How Many Gifts are There?

Let’s pray: Father, it is with interest that we will look to You to show us what gifts You've given to us. Open our understanding as to how we can find ways to express these gifts in our local church Body. May we be willing to serve others with the abilities You've blessed us with. We pray this in Jesus' Name. Amen

Today’s Bible verse: 1 Chron. 12:18c "for thy God helpeth thee."

Today’s quote:   Heather Riggleman - “I realize that being quiet in His presence is almost a lost art that needs a revival. When we quiet ourselves before Him, He is able to completely fill us in exchange for what is weighing us down. He uses His presence and His Word to breathe life into us, and we need so very much more than we realize. Take a time out. Take one often.

Take it with God, even if it means breathing in, to simply breathe out his name. Without quieting ourselves before God, we become so full and yet so very empty.”

Our thought todays: Don't go to God's Word subjectively, to support what you think, but seek what He wants you to hear.

When in His Presence, receive His Word.

As children of God, Christ does the purifying. We're to choose to be obedient, and then we'll stop sinning!
