Society and The Family

Lee Forbes
The failing of society is not from what we're told
By all the rich and famous with opinions that they hold
But has its root in something that we see repeatedly

The subtle mass destruction of the godly family

Where once the father functioned as the guardian of peace
The priest before the altar where his prayers would never cease
As from the early morning to the closing of the day
Whatever his activity he never failed to pray

And kept his wife and children in the presence of the Lord
Through constant intercession that no earthly things afford
As having them in heaven was the first thing on his mind
Where they might spend eternity in all the joy they find

And then the loving mother who would help her children see
The most important asset is a life of piety
As first thing in the morning they would spend their time with Him
Who longed to have all children know the love He has for them

The love of their Creator, their Redeemer and their Friend
They knew would not forsake them to the very bitter end
As knowing that this life would end in sin's great travesty
If faithful they would live with Christ throughout eternity

And then that of the children who would then respond in kind
Who when they saw the beauty of the Godly centered mind
Would honor both their parents as they chose fidelity
To be a living oracle for all the world to see

Reflecting what God taught them through their parents from His Word
By grace through faith still building on the things that they had heard
Before the family altar and upon their mother's knee
The secrets of the Kingdom God is wanting them to see

But as the family's faltered in their time before the Lord
Pursued a life of vanity their soul cannot afford
So has this great society set course on its demise
And soon will meet destruction right before our very eyes

Except for those still waiting watching daily on their knee
Through prayer and meditation in the scriptures as they see
The time that is fulfilling all the prophets said before
When God would cease His mercy as He shuts probation's door

Joshua 24:14-16; Proverbs 22:1-6

The Slow Fade of Unforgiveness

By Jill and Mark Savage

The Slow Fade of
Unforgiveness
"Mark: Jill and I have talked about it several times over the past few weeks and we agree. If we could re-writNo More Perfect Marriages we’d add it for sure! The slow fade of unforgiveness steals from so many marriages. Unforgiveness breeds resentment and fosters bitterness. It keeps us riled up with anger, rehearsing wounds over and over. It keeps us tangled up on the inside, distanced from God and distanced from our spouse."

Praying together
Father, it's true that many fathers used to keep their wives and children before the presence of the Lord night and day in intercession, that no earthly thing would hinder them from spending eternity with them in heaven.
They knew that You, their Creator, Redeemer and Friend, would not forsake them through their trials of their faith, and would help them live for Christ.
Help fathers and mothers live in harmony with Christ's loving ways, so the children will respond in kind, choosing fidelity and to be examples for others, so they'll see You'll be faithful to guide them in choices that honor You.
We ask that our families not live lives of vanity and pride by refusing to be obedient to Your way, for it's true, it can prevent spiritual destruction in our homes.
May we create times of watching daily through prayer and meditation in the Scriptures, as we see what the prophets said a long time ago would happen; a falling away of faith in God.
Hear our prayer for the Holy Spirit's guidance to lead our families in obedience to Scriptures that show us the way to go, and the thing we should do to guide our children in loving reverence of You.
Our desire is to have our children join us in heaven some day, and to enjoy Christ's peace throughout eternity with them.
In Jesus' name I pray. Amen.

Today's Bible verses-

Jer. 24:7 (NIV) "I will give them a heart to know me,
that I am the LORD. They will be my people, and I
will be their God, for they will return to me with all
      their heart."

Is. 44:3 (KJV) "I will pour water upon him that is
thirsty, and floods upon the dry ground: I will pour
my spirit upon thy seed, and my blessing upon thine               offspring.

Is. 44:8 (KJV) " Fear not, neither be afraid: have
not I told thee from that time, and have declared it?
ye are even my witnesses. Is there a God beside me?
yea, there is no God; I know not any."

Today's quotes-
Steve Maraboli-  It is important that we forgive ourselves for making mistakes. We need to learn from our errors and move on.

~ Tom Elliff- "God through His grace ultimately brings us face to face with our inadequacies. He is determined to deal with spiritual emptiness whenever and wherever He finds it in our lives.
No matter how hard we try to hide it, the truth will come out. Like the famed Tower of Pisa, our seemingly well-ordered and successful lives will begin to lean embarrassingly if they are not properly founded." (p. 132 in A PASSION for PRAYER).

Today's question-

Do you have the habit of blaming others for things that go wrong?

For one thing, God allows things to turn out ways that we didn't plan, usually for our own good, or for the good of others.
When we look back on what happens, we'll often understand what really took place, and usually see the reasons.
If we'll make a habit of submitting to God's plans for each day, (see James 4:7), it will strengthen our hearts to trust His judgment and plans for us, and to learn to not complain and blame others.
Remember how David's men blamed him for their families' being captured and taken away? What did David do? (See 1 Sam. 30:1-6). He turned to God for direction, and they ended up retrieving everything and everyone.
We're challenged to take our eyes off the temporary and to keep our eyes on the eternal perspective of our daily living, and that we honor Christ.
