#36 Walking in the Spirit

God uses worship.jpg
Andrew Murray- The more the believer knows about the sealing of the Spirit and the work that He does, the greater is his desire to yield himself completely to the Spirit's control.

At the same time, he feels the need of a deeper vision of the riches of grace dispensed by the blessed Spirit. He sees that to be filled with the Spirit means peace, joy, health, and strength. (Google image, God uses worship to transform people)

The seal of the Spirit includes the call to be a soldier and to be strong in the Lord and the power of His might. The believer understands that divine power is promised him so that he may wrestle against the powers of evil with the sword of the Spirit and rescue men for Christ and His service.

He obeys the call to a life of continual prayer with perseverance for all saints and for all ministers of the Word. The Spirit makes it possible for him to be a true soldier and prayer warrior.

"Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who hath blessed us wit all spiritual blessings in heavenly places in Christ" (Ephesians 1:3) Let us meditate on the blessings until we realize what a glorious salvation God has prepared for us.

A believer who is sealed by the Spirit is taught to know the divine power working in him. He enjoys perfect fellowship with the Father, united with all his fellow-saints as the temple of God.

Strengthened with might by the Spirit, Christ dwells in his heart, and he is filled with all the fulness of God He walks in all meekness and lowliness in his daily life, keeping the unity of the Spirit. In the power of the Spirit he works to build up the Body in love.

He hungers to be filled with the Spirit and never grieves Him. He fulfills the law of love in his daily life and is strong in the Lord and the power of His might to wrestle with the powers of darkness, using the Word and praying for all saints.

It takes time, thought, prayer, and quiet waiting on the Spirit of God for anyone to keep the vision of the Spirit-sealed. Spirit-taught, Spirit-strengthened, and Spirit-filled believer. We must turn from self and the world to allow God to work in us according to the counsel of His own will.

Let us not forget our purpose in studying Paul's letter to the Ephesians. Let us believe in the divine standard of the Christian life it sets before us. By the almighty power of God alone, it can become ours.

If we are serious about seeking deliverance from worldly standards, we can count on the infinite mercy of God to work in us what otherwise appears to be utterly hopeless—a life filled with the Spirit.

Let's pray-

"Father-God, forgive me for entertaining lying vanities that have become strongholds of worry and anxiety in my life. Holy Spirit, I receive You as my divine Counselor and Companion. I have tried to overcome these feelings and incorrect perceptions. I humble myself and ask You to reveal the origin of these feelings and thoughts of anxiety and worry, and heal those broken places in my soul caused by past events. As I renew my mind I renounce fear of the unknown and receive the healing that You provide. Fill me with light, truth, peace, and wisdom. I receive and thank You for Your forgiveness; I allowed incorrect perceptions to dominate my thinking, and now my mind is renewed by Your Word. I ask You for grace to trust You more and receive the peace that passes understanding, in the name of Jesus. Amen"

Scripture Meditation: 2 Cor 10:3-5; 1 Peter 5:6-7

Today's Bible verses-

2 Cor. 10:3-5 (NKJV) "For though we walk in the
flesh, we do not war according to the flesh. (4) For
the weapons of our warfare are not carnal but
mighty in God for pulling down strongholds.
       (5) casting down arguments and every high thing
that exalts itself against the knowledge of God,
bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience
       of Christ. "

Gal. 5:16, 17 (NKJV) "I say then: Walk in the Spirit,
and you shall not fulfil the lust of the flesh. (17) For
the flesh lusts against the Spirit, and the Spirit against
the flesh; and these are contrary to one another, so
that you do not do the things that you wish."

Today's quotes-

~ Watchman Nee- "In heaven, God's power is unlimited. But on earth, God's power is manifested to the degree that the church prays."

~ Jennifer Eivaz- "A praying church is a powerful church, and prayer keeps a church in the center of God's will. When a church commits itself to prayer, it encounters the supernatural realm in many dimensions." (p.36, 37 of THE INTERCESSORS HANDBOOK)

Words of wisdom-

~ Jesus will challenge our dependency on anything other than Him to focus on for stability in life. Our routine need not take priority, to where we leave Him out, as He is enough.

~ God wants us to dream BIG. What we set our eyes on, though, determines the outcome. Will it be for His glory, or for our selfishness? Jesus is really all we need. In Him we'll find our needs fulfilled.
