To Be Like Him

Jean Oathout-  Our desire should be to have the Holy Spirit of God make us more holy, to complete the image of Christ within us. The Lord Jesus is to be formed in us with His character and unselfish life so as to be like Him

We are to be grow spiritually, and to mature both in mind and character, actively integrating godly values into our daily lives. The Father is perfect, so He expects us to follow Christ's example and become like Him. It takes time to accomplish this, of course, but we're admonished to improve our speech, thoughts and actions to conform to His image; Who is in the very image of the Father, Himself. (Google image, Let go of past hurts) [10 Ways to let go of the past that hurts]

We're not to counterfeit His Love, but to offer our love as our devoted requirement at the cost of our pride, time, resources and even our lives. Christ gave His all. He expects us to do the same. How can the Kingdom of Christ advance unless His people are willing to be like Him in everything they do?

The following post of mine from 6/15/14 may answer some of your questions. I hope it does. As we learn from other's writings about the Lord, may we be instructed and encouraged through what we hear from them and God, to learn to be like Jesus.

Jean Oathout shares some interesting thoughts with us today about hearing
from God.

"It happens that we may know where another person is coming from, and
what their usual message is, so we may tend to hesitate to ask for their
input on something that we’re struggling with."

Let's pray-

"O Spirit of God, make us all more holy. Work in us more completely the image of Christ. We long to be like the Lord Jesus Christ in spirit and character and in unselfishness of life. Give us the character of Christ, we pray. Redemption from the power of sin is purchased with His blood, and we crave for it. we pray that we may daily receive it. Let the whole militant church of Christ be blessed."  Charles Spurgeon-

[Spurgeon on PRAYER & SPIRITUAL WARFARE].

351-355 one-line KJV Scriptures for those of you who want to learn some more verses this week-

351- Prov. 14:12 "There is a way which seemeth right unto a man, but the end thereof are the ways of death."

352- Is. 37:28 "But I know thy abode, and thy going out, and thy coming in, and thy rage against me." [color added as God speaks]

353- Prov. 12:25 "Heaviness in the heart of man maketh it stoop: but a good word maketh it glad."

354- Is. 54:13 "And all thy children shall be taught of the LORD, and great shall be the peace of thy children." [color added as God speaks]

355- Ps. 103:11 "For as the heaven is high above the earth, so great is his mercy toward them that fear him."

Today's quote-

~ "God does not demand impossibilities of us in prayer. He does not weary us with an impractical ideal. He asks us to pray no more than what He gives us grace to do. We may, therefore, rest assured that He will give us the grace to pray so that our intercessions will be a pleasure to Him and to us, a source of strength to our conscience and or work, and a channel of blessing to those for whom we labor."

Words of wisdom-

~ At times we discover that we've sinned against someone and God.  When we repent, we'll find ourselves welcomed back to the Father's fellowship. Our faith is deepened, when we discover He forgives us our doing or saying something offensive.

Today's question-

~ Ernie Miller- "Have you ever wondered how Christ could ask the Father to
'forgive' those who beat, whipped , and crucified Him? There was no repentance, no confession of guilt . . . yet Christ asked. Did the Father honor his request?
And Stephen too, as He was being stoned to death . . . asked the Lord to forgive them, as He fell into evil's grip, giving His life.
And for those who lived and watched these scenes with their very eyes, and who heard those cries of mercy towards the guilty, those who loved them, their friends, their family . . . did they honor their requests for forgiveness?
There's no counterfeit of love. Often belittled as mamby pamby, and weakness, until you offer it without requirement, not at the cost of your pride, your time, your resources, but your life."
