#65 How to Praise the Lord

Dr. Wesley L. Duewel- You can praise God in the solitude of your own soul without anyone else being aware. Begin your day in the office with silent praise. Enter a home when you make an evangelistic call, praising Jesus in your heart.

If others are counseling a person while you are present, you can quietly repeat the name of Jesus over and over in  praise and adoration. As you sit beside a suffering one in the hospital, you can silently praise the Lord until God's presence is near and perhaps even felt by the patient. How many, many times it is appropriate to praise Jesus in this way! (Google image, Sitting quietly helps you remember

While praise is to flood your inmost being (Ps. 103:1) and can be sung in your heart (30:12), praise is also to be expressed in public (35:18), in the presence of others (34:3). Praise is to be declared (9:14), sung (33:1), shouted for joy (33:3; 71:23), expressed with music (92:1), and with the lips and mouth.

"I will extol the Lord at all times; his praise will always be on my lips" (34:1). "Through Jesus, therefore, let us continually offer to God a sacrifice of praise— the fruit of lips that confess his name" (Heb. 13:15).

Praise can transform your daily life. Praise can transform your prayer life. Praise can speed victory in your prayer battles. There is no substitute for praise. Praise honors God, brings joy to the angels, and strikes terror in any evil spirit which may be around.

Praise clears the atmosphere, washes your spirit, multiplies your faith, and clothes you with God's presence and power. "Praise the Lord, O my soul; all my inmost being, praise his holy name" (Ps. 103:1).

Let's pray-

Father, please help us learn to praise You in the solitude of our own souls, even when others are present in the room with us. Wherever we may go, may we keep an attitude of prayer for Jesus to guide us in our activities, and to help us in what we think, say and do.
If others are counseling someone while we're in the room, help us to quietly repeat Jesus' name over and over in praise and adoration. At times when we may sit near someone in the hospital, remind us to silently praise You until Your presence is near and possibly felt by the patient. There are countless times when this will be appropriate to give praise in this way.
Your Word tells us to flood our inmost being with praise, sing praises and speak of Christ's enabling us to actually express joy in hard times. It's a sacrifice of praise when we may not feel like praising You. When we do though, we find You reward us with  peace as our thoughts turn to You for help.
Praise can transform our daily lives through learning to give praise in our prayer time. We are to find that victory in these times of battle through giving praise, honors You, brings joy to the angels and strikes terror in any evil spirit which may be near by.
As there's no substitute for praise, may we clear the air with praises, get our faith multiplied, and be clothed in Your presence and power.
In the name of Jesus, our Savior we pray. Amen

Now, here's a thought-
When you spend time with God, you will learn to love Him and know the sound of His voice.

Words of wisdom-

~ Do you find that you normally point others to Christ and His answers for their problems, questions and needs? Our thoughts, interests, experiences and suggestions may not be what they need. Let's esteem Jesus' answers to be more important than all else.

Today's guest post-

~ Can We Really Be Joyful While We Suffer? Jennifer Slattery

"When many of us think of joy, we envision something akin to happiness, filled with moments of laughter and celebration. But biblical joy is entirely different. It’s the abiding, unshakable assurance of God’s grace. It’s the realization that God is with us, loves us, and is working all things, our most challenging circumstances included, for our ultimate good and His glory. (Rom. 8:28-30). As we deepen our intimacy with God, the Holy Spirit’s influence increases, as does the fruit He produces. Therefore, whatever magnifies our dependence on Christ simultaneously enhances our joy."
