Thriving Together

Xochitl Dixon- My husband, Alan, stood below the towering lights illuminating the athletic field, as a member of the opposing team hit a ball into the air. With his eyes fixed on the ball, Alan ran full speed toward the darkest corner of the field—and slammed into the chain link fence.

Later that night, I handed him an ice pack. "Are you feeling okay?" I asked. He rubbed his shoulder. "I'd feel better if my buddies had warned me that I was getting near the fence," he said.  (Google image, Baseball park)

Teams function best when they work together. Alan's injury could have been avoided, if only one of his teammates had yelled out a warning as he approached the fence.

Scripture reminds us that members of the church are designed to work together and watch out for each other like a team. The apostle Paul tells us that God cares about how we interact with each other, because the actions of one person can impact the whole community of believers (Colosians 3:13-14).

When we all embrace opportunities to serve each other, fully devoted to unity and peace, the church flourishes (v. 15).

Paul instructed his readers to "let the message of Christ dwell among you richly as you teach and admonish one another with all wisdom through psalms, hymns, and songs from the Spirit" (v. 16).

In this way way we can inspire and protect one another through loving and honest relationships, obeying ant praising God with grateful hearts—thriving together

Let's pray-

Father, we feel sympathy for those who've been injured physically or spiritually, especially when someone on their team could have helped them avoid it. Teams function best when they learn to work together to watch out for each other's good.

The apostle Paul shares with us that how we interact with one another impacts other believers in our community of believers. We are to watch out for each other like a team.
When we embrace opportunities to serve one another, devoted to unity and peace, our churches will flourish.

May we inspire and protect one another through loving and honest relationships, obeying and praising You with grateful hearts. As You help us share wisdom through psalms, hymns, and songs from the Spirit, we will thrive together!

We ask for Your help in the name of Jesus, that He will be glorified in our gatherings through our teamwork. Amen

Our weekly word from the Father
There Is No Greater Joy

"In your walk, I cannot love you more than I already do, because I am [Love]. And I love to shed that love on you in manifestation when you can receive it. There is no greater joy for Me than to fellowship with you on the level of My love."

416-420 one-line Scriptures for those of you who want to learn some more verses this week- or to review them from when they were first posted-

416- Job 12:9 "Who knoweth not in all these that the hand of the LORD hath wrought this?"

417- Ps. 119:74 "They that fear thee will be glad when they see me; because I have hoped in thy word."

418- Ps. 7:10 "My defence is of God, which saveth the upright in heart."

419- Pro. 15:33 "The fear of the LORD is the instruction of wisdom; and before honour is humility."

420- Luke 11:28 "But he said, Yea rather, blessed are they that hear the word of God, and keep it."

Quotes for today-

~ Dr. Derwin L. Gray- "The human heart is like a garden that requires cultivation so life can flourish. Peacemaking acts as nourishment to help the human heart grow and bloom. The more we soak in God’s peace through Christ, the more forgiving, merciful, kind, and compassionate we will become, because our hard hearts will be softened by His grace. His love draws us deeper into His heart, and we start resembling Him as we follow Him by faith. Thus, the God of peace will express His peace through us."

Samuel Rodriguez- "From Scripture, we understand that life begins in the womb and that God's design for the nuclear family centers around a father and mother in marriage. Yet, we live in a fallen world where laws and government policies defy God's design for the family rendering many homes as merely a shelter instead of the refuge of peace, protection, purpose and promise that God intends them to be." [DECISION  magazine, October 2020]

Words of wisdom-

~ May we have the heart of a child to see wonders all around us, and to respond with the love that Jesus gives. When we help others with their needs, may we do it joyfully, giving thanks to God that we were able to be of help.
