#104 Saturate Your Soul With The Word Of God

Dr. Wesley L. Duewel- Saturate your soul with the Word of God. Since you never know when the Holy Spirit may alert you to special prayer or prayer warfare, it is important to maintain strength at all times by feeding on God's Word.

No one can stay spiritually fit by reading only a few Bible verses a day. Even one chapter a day provides a very inadequate spiritual diet. Nothing can substitute for God's Word; no devotional book can replace the reading of the Scriptures. (Read the Word by James Coleman, Unsplash)

At the beginning of any extended prayer time or prayer battle, feed deeply on the Word of God. "Faith comes through hearing the message, and the message is heard through the word of Christ" (Rom. 10:17). Saturate yourself with God's Word. (For more extended discussion, see chapter 19) [#66 The Promise Is For You]

During your prayer warfare quote or read the promises of God. If possible, use one or two special promises that you can claim for the victory you see. If God so leads, read the promises aloud in the devil's hearing. Remember, the mightiest name in the Bible is "Jesus."

Again and again Satan, his demons, or demon-motivated enemies have been routed by the use of the name of Jesus. Millions of times demons have been cast out by the authority of the name of Jesus.

I know of no better exhortation in a prayer battle than Ephesians 6:17: "Take the sword of the Spirit." The Holy Spirit will endorse and empower your use of the Word in prayer. As I mentioned earlier, you may even feel led to hold your Bible to your heart, or in your hand, or to place your hand upon a promise you are claiming.

This but symbolize what you are doing in the spiritual realm as you defeat Satan by the Word. As Jesus made a whip and drove that merchants out of the temple, take the Word and expel every demon who blocks God's will and fights a rearguard action against God's people.

Let's pray-

Father, may we remember that to remain filled with Your Spirit and to maintain our spiritual strength at all times, we must feast on Your Word. We are to be prepared for Your alerting us to special prayer or prayer warfare.

Remind us that the mightiest name in the Bible is "Jesus". There, we see that Satan was routed out by the use of this Name. Many demons have been cast out by the authority of the name of Jesus by His followers.

Your Holy Spirit will endorse and empower us when we use Your Words in prayer. Help us remember that holding Your Word in our hand can help us claim a promise we're believing for. It symbolizes what we are doing in the spirit realm to defeat Satan.

As Jesus expelled the merchants out of the temple, may we take the Word and expel every demon who blocks God's will and that fights a rearguard action against God's people. We, together, ask for Your assistance in this warfare against the evil one, in the mighty name of Jesus. Amen

Today's Bible verses-

Ephesians 2:10 “For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand that we should walk in them.”

Exodus 9:16 But I have raised you up for this very purpose, that I might show you my power and that my name might be proclaimed in all the earth.

Habakkuk 3:19 (AMPC) "The Lord God is my Strength, my personal bravery, and my invincible army; He makes my feet like hinds’ feet and will make me to walk [not to stand still in terror, but to walk] and make [spiritual] progress upon my high places [of trouble, suffering, or responsibility]!”

Quotes for today-

~ Lori Hatcher-  "When I quiet myself as I enter God’s presence, a holy hush falls over my soul. When I begin my time by praising God, my upended world rights itself. When I ask the Holy Spirit to open my mind, search my heart, and examine my life, God tenders my spirit and makes it more receptive to what I’m about to read. Instead of just another item on my to-do list, my quiet time becomes the most significant and beautiful part of my day."

Lisa Buffaloe- "God’s power is inexhaustible and as a Christian, we have God’s power through the power of Christ. When our bodies and spirits are weary, cast down, and barely hanging on, hope in God. God’s hope is unfailing."

Words of wisdom-

When we love someone, what pleases them? Is it not to do for them what makes them happy? Our Lord is the same way: He desires for us to do what His Word tells us to do. Seems simple, doesn’t it? Through obedience, whether by our children or us; love is expressed.

Today's Popular post-

The Power of the Word of God

   R. A. Torrey: The great reservoir of the power that belongs to God is His own Word—the Bible. If we wish to make it ours, we must go to that Book.

Yet people abound in the church who are praying for power and neglecting the Bible. Men are longing to have power for bearing fruit in their own lives and  yet forget that Jesus has said: "The seed is the Word of God" (Luke 8:11).
