WHAT'S IN YOUR HAND?

“When God asked Moses to lead the people of Israel out of Egypt, Moses was afraid the people wouldn’t listen to him or follow him. So God said, “What is that in your hand?” (Ex. 4:2). Moses replied, ‘A rod.’ God went on to use that rod in Moses’ hand to convince the people to follow him, to turn the Nile River into blood, to bring great plagues on Egypt, to part the Red Sea, and to perform miracles in the wilderness.

Moses’ rod …when dedicated to God, became a mighty tool. This helps us see that God can use what little we have, when surrendered to Him, to do great things. God is not looking for people with great abilities, but for those who are dedicated to following and obeying Him" -- Lee

Read Exodus 4:1-9, 17

The following quotes are taken from Our Daily Bread for Personal and Family Devotions:

                        “God uses us as instruments
                          To help someone in need,
So we must trust Him to supply
                        When following His lead. -–Sper

When God says do it, He’s already planned the resources we need to accomplish the task.”  (816/11)

If you use what little you may have
To serve the Lord with all your heart
You will find that He can do great things
When you begin to do your part.—Sper

Little is much when God is in it.”   (9/ 27/11)

“Our gifts and abilities come to us by God’s grace and are to be used by faith (Ro. 12:3, 6) in love and service for Christ – not for personal recognition. May God grant us the ability to embrace with enthusiasm the supporting roles to which He calls us. The ultimate goal is His glory and not our own"—David  McCasland

The church, a living body, containing all the parts –
                      It lives, it moves, it functions, and touches many hearts;
When each part is committed to do the Savior’s will,
His members are united, His purpose they fulfil. —Fitzhugh

The church works best when we see ourselves as participants, not as spectators. (12/15/12)

The following is taken from “Devotions for MORNING and EVENING” with Oswald Chambers

“If Jesus ever gave us a command He could not enable us to fulfill, He would be a liar; and if we make our inability a barrier to obedience, it means we are telling God there is something He Has not taken into account. Every element of self-reliance must be slain by the power of God. Complete weakness and dependence will always be the occasion for the Spirit of God to manifest His power.” (pg. 260) For May 5th

“Not that we are fit (qualified and sufficient in ability) of ourselves to form personal judgments or to claim or count anything as coming from us, but our power and ability and sufficiency are from God. [It is He] who has qualified us [making us to be fit and worthy and sufficient] as ministers and dispensers of a new covenant [of salvation through Christ ], not [ministers] of the letter (of legally written code) but of the Spirit; for the code [of the Law] kills, but the [Holy] Spirit makes alive.” (2 Cor. 3:5, 6 Amp.)
