#28 The Revelation of Jesus

Andrew Murray- The great work of the Holy Spirit is to reveal Christ to the believer in the glory of His heavenly life and in His power at work in our hearts.

As a preparation for this, His first work is to convict us of the sin of unbelief. The salvation God has prepared for us is complete in Jesus Christ. His life of humility and obedience has been prepared for us and can be receive and lived through simple faith alone.

The real secret of the true Christian lies in the daily, unceasing faith in what Jesus will work in us each moment of our life. When this faith is not exercised and sought after, the Christian life becomes feeble.

Nothing grieves he Holy Spirit as much as the unbelief which prevents Jesus from showing His power to deliver men from the
power of sin  and the world.

We need to see the simplicity and the glory of the gospel we profess. In Jesus Christ all that His life, death, and resurrection accomplished is stored up for us. The fullness of life that is in Jesus is reproduced in us, enabling us to grow into the likeness of His humility, love, and obedience.

This is not accomplished by any power in ourselves. The Holy Spirit is given and lives in us to communicate and maintain the life of Christ in the soul. Feel the urgency of the command: 'Grieve not the holy Spirit of God." What an unspeakable blessing will come if we yield to Him!

We are in search of the New Testament standard of a life of devotion. Suppose we could ask Paul about his personal experience. He would answer,

"I am sure that the child of God, living fully in
the power of the Holy Spirit can please God. There
is no reason to grieve the Spirit every day."

The different standard of our modern Christianity is simply the result of ignorance and unbelief in the supernatural working of the Spirit in the heart. Paul lived his life of devotion in the fullness and the joy of the Holy Spirit.

Is our standard limited because such an experience is seldom taught and lived? Is the reason for this that our knowledge is too intellectual and that the Holy Spirit is not honored as the only Teacher of spiritual truth?

We need to return to the prayer in Ephesians 1:15-23. Let it teach us to receive the Spirit of wisdom as the only Teacher that can enable us to experience the heavenly life God has prepared for us.

Let's pray-

To the glory of the Father, I welcome you, Holy Spirit. I’m so grateful that You are my Helper as I prepare for the New Year. I humble myself before You asking for Divine Guidance. In Jesus’s name, I commit myself anew to Your plans and purposes, that I might run the full race completing the destiny to which You have called me. I trust in You, Lord, I put my full confidence in You and Your word, and delight myself in You. Father-God, be glorified in my life throughout the coming year as never before, in Jesus's name. Amen. Psalm 37:3-5; Isaiah 26:4; James 4:10

Today's Bible verses-

Job 42:2, 5, 6 (NKJV) "I know that You can do
everything, and that no purpose of Yours can
be withheld form You. (v. 5) I have heard of You
by the hearing of the ear, but now my eye sees You.
       (v. 6) Therefore I abhor myself, and repent in dust
       and ashes.

2 Cor. 7:1 (NKJV) "Therefore, having these promises,
beloved, let us cleans ourselves from all filthiness of the
flesh and spirit, perfecting holiness in the fear of God."

Today's quotes-

~ Robert Henderson- "Iniquity not dealt with will ruin our future. Iniquity allows curses the legal right to land. Iniquity has at least four devastating effects against us. The first effect is iniquity grants the devil the legal right to tempt us in a given area. When someone in our family history gives themselves over to a certain sin, this grants the devil the legal right to tempt us with the same thing. The source of the temptation is the failure of those from our family history." (Taken from p.47 of UNLOCKING DESTINIES FROM THE COURTS OF HEAVEN

~Dave Roberson Ministries- Jesus says:
"I am reaching out to you and drawing you to Me—come. Come with the wisdom that, as you come, you are coming to lose more of you so that you will walk in more of Me. Come with the knowing that in these times of Me drawing you, each time you come, you are surrendering your life and allowing Me to be the Captor of your heart. There is a strong grace involved in this heart capturing that is taking place. Each one who gives in to the drawing toward Me that is taking place will find that I have taken more of you and given you more of Me. This is the surrender that is true—it always results in change and more of My life in you."

Words of wisdom-

It is not our nature to take the gospel and not add to it. Jesus is all we need!

The Lord delights to answer our question of His Presence. He is always with us! He's over and around us at all times and in every situation we encounter.
