THE RIGHT PLACE AT THE RIGHT TIME : Prayer Note # 40

Dutch Sheets  shares this with us, “This now brings us to paga and the definition mentioned earlier; ‘light upon,’ or ‘light on by chance.’ The setting where the word is used this way is In Gen. 28:10 – 17.

The passage is describing Jacob’s flight from Esau after conniving from him his birthright.

After traveling all day Jacob needed a place to spend the night ‘because the sun was set.’ Verse 11 says he "lighted upon"(KJV) a particular place and there he spent the night.

Notice that Jacob had not predetermined to spend the night there, he didn’t choose the place in advance, but was guided by chance—"because the sun was set."

It was there that he saw the angels ascending and descending from heaven…In short, it was a place where Jacob’s entire destiny was foretold and his history shaped.

Like Jacob, who was not guided to this special place by his own reasoning or understanding, we are not always able to be directed in prayer by ours either…

At times it seems the process is hit and miss, as though we have to land or ‘light upon’ the situation correctly ‘by chance.’

That’s okay. It’s one of the primary meanings of paga.

  •     Bethels will occur!
  •     Meetings with God will occur!
  •     Heaven’s gates will open!
  •     Destinies will be written!
  •     History will be shaped!
I submit to you that one of the reasons we don’t see more miracles is because we don’t expect more miracles.”

“I cried out to God with my voice—To God with my voice; and He gave ear to me…Your way, O God is in the sanctuary; Who is so great a God as our God? You are the God who does wonders; You have declared Your strength among the peoples.” Ps. 77:1, 13-14, NKJ
