Dutch Sheets goes on
to share his thoughts about watchmen keeping the Serpent out of the lives of our
leaders:
Gatekeeper: Watchmen have the ability spiritually – in the prayer closet – to determine who or what goes in and out of their homes, their families’ lives, their churches, their cities, etc.
They discern by the Holy Spirit what to allow in, and through prayer, open and close the door. They invite in the work of the Holy Spirit, and reject the works of darkness.
They set boundaries, keeping enemies out. ‘Don’t blame it all on the pastors. You, too, are responsible for gate keeping.
Preserve or preserver: Watchmen preserve or keep things from ruin and destruction. They preserve live, anointing, moves of God and a host of other things by covering them in prayer.
Pay attention: Watchmen must be on the alert. They must pay attention…Lives are at stake.
Observe: This embodies the same concept as paying attention, yet adds the emphasis of contemplativeness and sharpness. Don’t just look – see. Be observant.
Behold: This one is similar to observe, of course, but I list it because it reemphasizes the need for seeing clearly.
Beware: Watchmen must be vigilant, aware, on the alert again, 1 Peter 5:8 warns us to be of sober spirit. Always beware, intercessor!
Maintain: Watchmen maintain things for the Lord. They are maintenance people. They keep things working well and prevent breakdowns. They maintain the anointing, integrity, health and many other necessary blessings of the kingdom.
God is raising up prophetic intercessors –
watchmen – to keep the serpent out! Sentries,
bodyguards, gatekeepers, boundary setters and preservers in His kingdom. It is,
indeed, a high calling!”
The next Prayer Note: 3/14 Be
Offensive – Lay Siege! : Prayer note #124
Let’s pray: “Lord, remind us of how deeply we have offended You and how often You have extended the grace of forgiveness to us. Teach us to forgive others and to trust You to deal with those who sin against us. Forgiveness is God’s grace in action through us.” Our Daily Bread
Our Scripture for today: Ps. 5:11 "But let all those that put their trust in thee rejoice: let them ever shout for joy, because thou defendest them: let them also that love thy name be joyful in thee."
Today’s quote: Joel Osteen “God controls the
whole universe, yet you are the apple of His eye. You are His most prized
possession. God is longing to be good to you.”
Our thought for today: Why are you hiding? Do you believe you're alone doing God's will?
