Where Is God?

FILEJean Oathout: First, we need to understand  that God Almighty is Spirit. He inhabits all Creation, and out into all the infinite space around us.

His abode is not in a contained place, as we suppose, when we look up in space, and address Him as being "out there." The truth is: He is closer than our hands and breath! (Google Image, Where is God?)

We learn from His Son, Jesus, that God loves each one of us unconditionally, and His desire is to get acquainted with us. This is the reason Jesus, who was fathered by God's Spirit, was born of a virgin over 2,000 years ago, so He could actually live among the people of that day. Jesus learned firsthand by walking with them for over 3 years, to experience what they had to deal with in life.

As it turned out, Jesus was crucified for His saying He was the Son of God, and that He had come to save people from their sins. The religious leaders resented His popularity, and were able to turn leaders against Him, even though He healed many people wherever He went.

His messages about the His kingdom, drew many to faith in Him, especially when He provided miraculously for some 10,000 people their lunches one day, from two small fishes and 5 small loves of bread from a boy's lunch! They wanted to take and make Him king! But He knew that wasn't the Father's plan for Him, so simply walked away and prayed alone for guidance as to what to do next.

Because Jesus was determined to obey His Father's will, He agonized in the garden of Gethsemane to bring his flesh under submission to what His ultimate purpose was: to be crucified for the payment of our sins, thus making the way back for us to have a right fellowship with God, His Father.

The Holy Spirit of Jesus came upon His faithful disciples there in the upper room in Jerusalem, where they were instructed to go and wait. They waited and prayed 10 days, then received power to preach that Christ's kingdom had indeed come!

This was none other than the Father's Spirit living among and in them, and is promised to us today! We are to welcome His Spirit into our hearts through the acceptance that Jesus was crucified, buried and rose again to new Life, and offers it to us today.

This Spirit living within His believers is the eternal God. He is everywhere, and abides within His children through their faith and obedience to His commands.

There are no boundaries for you to become a believer, except for unbelief and disobedience. Open up to His Spirit today, and learn from Him how to live a victorious life, overcoming the evil one's attempts to steal, kill and destroy you and your faith. (See John 10:10).

Today's quotes:

~ God- "I am all around you, hovering over you even as you seek My Face. I am nearer than you dare believe, closer than the air you breathe. If My children could only recognize My Presence, they would never feel lonely again. I know every thought before you think it, every word before you speak it.My Presence impinges on your innermost being. Can you see the absurdity of trying to hide anything from Me? You can easily deceive other people, and even yourself, but I read you like an open, large-print book."

(Taken from Jesus Calling, p. 247, August 24/2018, by Sarah Young).

~ Lisa Samra- "God asks, 'Who can hide in secret places so that I cannot see them?' " (Jer. 23:24). There is both an encouragement and a warning in His question.
The warning is that we cannot hide from God. we can't outrun or fool Him. Everything we do is visible to Him.
The encouragement is that there is no place on earth or in the heavens where we are outside the watchful care of our heavenly Father. Even when we feel alone, God is with us. No matter where we go today, may the awareness of that truth encourage us to choose obedience to His Word and receive comfort—He watches over us."

 Let's pray:

Forgiveness

Lord Jesus, we thank You that there is nowhere we can go that is outside of Your loving gaze. Knowing you see us, help us honor You with all of our words, thoughts and actions.
Forgive us our sins, and bring us closer to You daily, as we come to You for guidance, much like You prayed to Your Father when You were here in person.
As Your Spirit came upon Your faithful disciples in the upper room, we welcome Your power to be in our lives today! May Your strength become ours in our needs, and Your wisdom to direct us.
We're told that there are no boundaries for believers born of Your Spirit, except for unbelief and disobedience. May we not be guilty of these as we learn to follow You.
In Your precious Name we pray for Your will to be done, for our good and Your honor. Amen.

Today's Bible verse-

       Jer. 16:17 (NIV) "My eyes are on all their ways;
they are not hidden from me, nor is their sin
       concealed from my eyes."

Jer. 17:10 (NIV) "I the LORD search the heart and
examine the mind, to reward a man according to his
conduct, according to what his deeds deserve."

John 15:26, 27 (KJV) "But when the Comforter is
come, whom I will send unto you from the Father,
even the Spirit of truth, which proceedeth from the
Father, he shall testify of me: (v. 27) And ye also shall
bear witness, because ye have been with me from
       the beginning."

A gentle story   Lisa Buffaloe-

"Sweet hubby and I watched a movie from the 1940’s — a gentle story of a family with all their funny little idiosyncrasies, struggles, hopes, and dreams. For days, I contemplated the gentleness of the film, the love the family had for one another and the sacrifices they made through each hardship. Their story gentled my heart.
In a world full of hardships and struggles, we need a gentle story. We need to see that others have made it through the pain, misunderstandings, family issues, and life issues. We need the happy ending . . . "
