“One of the ways paga is translated is "strike the mark.’"The reference is Job 36:32: “He covers His hands with the lightning, and commands it to strike the mark” (italics mine).
When God releases His light, causing it to flash forth from His presence like lightning, its striking the desired target is likened to intercession.
Although the word paga is not used, Habakkuk 3:4 also speaks of light flashing forth from the hand of God: “His radiance is like the sunlight; He has rays flashing from His hand, and there is the hiding of His power.”
The Amplified translation is also very descriptive: “And His brightness was like the sunlight; rays streamed from His hand, and there [in the sunlike splendor] was the hiding place of His power."
We are like a magnifying glass in one sense—no, we don’t add to or magnify God’s power—but we do let the “Son” shine forth through us, directing His light to desired situations, allowing it to ‘strike the mark.’ ”
“For our God IS a consuming fire!” (Heb. 12:29)
My original posting of Prayer Note #81- Strike the Mark, taken from Dutch Sheets’ book, Intercessory Prayer (pp. 179-181)
Let's pray-
"Lord, thank You for the good news that You have forgiven my sin through your sacrifice on the cross. Give me a heart that seeks You and searches for greater understanding. Lord, awaken me today so that I might share Your message with greater clarity and boldness. In Jesus’ Name, Amen." Melissa Spoelstra

712- Ps. 119:80 "Let my heart be sound in thy precepts; that I be not ashamed."
713- Ps. 119:10 "With my whole heart have I sought thee; O let me not wander from thy commandments."
714- Ps. 78:7 "That they might set their hope in God, and not forget the works of God, but keep his commandments."

Today's quotes-
~ John MacArthur- "A sinful, vile, wicked individual cannot come into the presence of a holy God. Something must make that unholy person righteous befor he can be at peace with God. And that's exactly what Christ did when He died for sin and imputed His righteousness to all who believe. So Paul says we are no longer enemies but are at peace because we are reconciled."
~ Brandie Muncaster-
"Sometimes, God has to change situations so He can transform us, even if it means working against our expectations. When we experience regression in an area of our lives that once thrived, or distress where there was vibrant life, we can trust God to take a dry tree and make it flourish. When we feel knocked down, we can remember God is the lifter of the lowly. We are valuable to Him. He wants an ideal future for us, so He will do whatever is necessary to get us there. He wants to advance us because we are His. God is in the business of recovering, rebuilding, refurbishing, rehabilitating, and reviving our souls." [From Overcoming Trials God's Way]
Words of wisdom-
Whatever waters you are passing through, Christ is with you. Whatever rivers you are going through, they will not overtake you, and whatever fire you are walking in, you will not be burned. Jesus is there with you!
Popular Post- Joy
Ann Wallace: "Years ago, when life just seemed overwhelming and would probably not turn out like I thought, waves of depression would wash over me.
Then I heard, 'The joy of the Lord is your strength.' I knew I felt no joy, and that explained why I felt so weak."
