Thoughts for Life: Feeling Love

Why does a heart that's bleeding crying out for someone's love

Refuse the very Source of love the scriptures tell us of

Who's waiting through His Spirit to embrace that heart in Him

And give them peace and comfort that He's always off'ring them

Why do they look to others who like them are broken too

Who have the faults and failings that all other humans do

And then when dropped and broken as in life they're sure to be

Instead of seeking God for love they blame their misery

On Him Who did not fail them but was there to lift their soul

Who though being rejected still was there to make them whole

And bear them up on wings of grace that will not fail to be

The comfort Jesus promised us way back in history

And still is for them waiting like a beacon in the dark

To guide them o'er the rough parts when at first they do embark

Upon that chosen journey with the One Who's calling them

To place their heart with confidence and faith in only Him

Who knows from our beginning what the end for us will be

For past and all tomorrows are alike for Him to see

But in this very moment is where He is focused most

And where He does attend us through His mighty Holy Ghost

Just as our Saviour promised when the first time He was here

And knew His end was coming as the cross was drawing near

But chose instead of dreading what He knew was soon to come

He spoke of hope and glory where the Source of love comes from

And how though persecuted by the world for our belief

In Him Who is our Comforter we still will find relief

And find each new tomorrow even better than before

As God's love never weakens but engulfs us even more

When trials come upon us when they drive us to our knees

Not knowing there's a brighter future only Jesus sees

But soon will place within us feelings we've not known before

Those feelings that our lonely hearts had hoped God had in store

But could not in our wildest dreams imagine to be real

As with each breath we then will breathe the ecstasy we'll feel

Will lift us even higher than the joy the day before

For nothing then will hurt us in that life God has in store

Many people tell us to love. Only God gives us the power to do so. We know what God wants us to do. “This is what God commands. . .that we love each other.” (1 John 3:23).

But how can we? How can we be kind to those who are unkind to us? How can we love as God loves? By being loved. By following the principle: receive first and love second. God loves you personally…powerfully…passionately! He loves you with an unfailing love. Others have promised and failed. But God has promised and succeeded! [I add italics for emphasis on Scripture portions]
