Pray “Popcorn” Style

Jill Savage- "When you pray with someone else, it can be helpful if you each just pray a sentence or two (or a complete thought) and then the other person pops in and prays in the same manner.

You may popcorn back and forth praying about the same topic until you’ve exhausted that topic. For instance, we were praying for our oldest daughter and her husband a couple of weeks ago as he was facing emergency surgery on his back. Here’s what our popcorn prayer looked like: (Google image, Two women praying)
Mark: Lord, I lift Matt up to you. He needs your healing touch. Give the doctors wisdom as they do surgery tomorrow.

Jill: Help the doctors to see what they need to see. Guide their hands and their thoughts.

Mark: Lord, give Matt, Anne, and the kids your peace that passes understanding. Help them to express their fears but tackle them with faith.

Jill: Give us wisdom and flexibility Father, to adjust our schedule to take care of the kids. Help us to listen to their fears with compassion and to be fully present while we’re caring for them.
After we exhausted that topic, we moved on to another one. This keeps us both engaged. When the other person is praying, we may even sometimes agree aloud with a simple “Yes Lord,” or “I agree with that” aloud or silently.

This keeps us focused on what the other person is praying rather than worrying about what we’re going to say next.

[This is a great way to pray effectively, I (Jean) have found.]

Let's pray-

"Papa God, we ask for breakthrough for every person who reads this post today. We ask that you would extend such grace — such peace unexplainable and joy uncontainable that it would touch each and every one of us today. We ask that situations be transformed under your glory and grace.  Where there is fear, bring faith. Where there is devastation, rebuild. In the face of depression, bring healing and great devotion to you. I ask for life in the place of death and hope in the midst of disappointment. In Jesus' name, Amen." Shelly Balarie

296-300 One-line Scriptures from for those of you who want to learn some more this week-  [These are the one-sentence verses from the KJV Bible that I've been sending out daily for a long time- 500, as of the 15th of July. The bold print just means I checked them to be correct]

296- 2 Thess. 3:5 "And the Lord direct your hearts into the love of God, and into the patient waiting for Christ."
297- Gal. 4:4 "But when the fulness of the time was come, God sent forth his Son, made of a woman, made under the law."
298- Ps. 23:3 "He restoreth my soul; he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name's sake."
299- Prov. 3:7 "Be not wise in thine own eyes: fear the LORD, and depart from evil."
300- Ps. 96:8 "Give unto the LORD the glory due unto his name: bring an offering, and come into his courts."

Today's quotes-

Gwen Smith- "When Jesus returns and the earth is made new, there will be no more holes in our hearts. Frustrations,
tensions and strivings will cease. Joy will be complete.
Our souls will be fully content.
There will be no more sorrow, death, mourning or crying. The Lord will wipe every tear from the eyes of His people. (Revelations 21:4)
Jesus will be the peace to end all restlessness.
10,000 years and then forevermore. Yes, and amen."

~ Max Lucado- "Through the centuries Christians have learned the value of brief sentence prayers, prayers that can be whispered anywhere, in any setting."

Words of wisdom-

Jesus will never change; you can bank on it! When the times are good, and when the times are bad, He stays the same. He went through it all, and still came out victorious.
This summer, as you go through the ups and owns of life, be sure to remember that the Lord goes along with you, to be of help. Ask for His advice, and you'll be amazed at how things will turn out!

Words from God the Father
[Our weekly word]

2. I Desire to Fellowship With You

"I desire to fellowship with you in intimate fellowship within your heart and to walk with you, second by second, moment by moment. No, there has never been a time from you that I did depart. For every moment of the day, you can look My way and know that I am here, says the Spirit of Grace, here to fellowship with you and give you My wisdom, My power, and My Spirit to see you through."

Stormy Grace

Michelle Heed

"The heavens opened wide—the wet surprise causing children to run into their mother’s arms.
Dusty roads make me excited for rain. When the rainy season comes to Tanzania, flowers bloom and shouts of praise rise. Baby animals sheepishly make their entrance. Children dance to rain beating on the church roof."
