THE REBOOT OF GRACE

 

~ Adam R. Holz-  "Over the last several decades, a new word has entered our movie vocabulary: reboot. In cinematic parlance, a reboot takes an old story and jumpstarts it. Some reboots retell a familiar tale, like a superhero story or a fairytale. Other reboots take a lesser-known story and retell it in a new way. But in each case, a reboot is a bit like a do-over. It's a fresh start, a chance to breathe new life into the old. (Google image, Looney Tunes

   There's another story that involves reboots—the gospel story. In it, Jesus invites us to His offer of forgiveness, as well as abundant and eternal life (John 10:10). And in the book of Lamentations, Jeremiah reminds us that God's love for us makes every day a "reboot" of sorts:

   "Because of the LORD's great love we are not consumed, for his compassions never fail. They are new every morning; great is your faithfulness" (Jer. 3:22-23).

   God's grace invites us to embrace each day as a fresh opportunity to experience His faithfulness. Whether we're struggling with the effects of our own mistakes or going through other hardships, God's Spirit can breathe forgiveness, new life, and hope into each new day. 

   Every day is a reboot of sorts, an opportunity to follow the lead of the great Director, who is weaving our story into His bigger one.

   Father, thank You that Your grace and forgiveness invite me to start over, fresh, every morning."


 
#23 Testimony- Dave

   On our Honduras missions’ trip: We got to send a doctor here on a house call to a 14-day-old baby with a bad infection, and his mother who had been in bed since the delivery.

   She accepted the Lord as Savior and received some very needed care for her and her baby!

#23 Hymn-   "Jesus Loves Me, This I Know"

This song, Jesus Loves Me, is taken from the book by Robert J. MorganTHEN SINGS MY SOUL   (pg.138, 139)

~ Anna and Susan Warner lived in a lovely townhouse in New York City where their father, Henry Whiting Warner, was a successful lawyer. But the "Panic of 1837" wrecked the family's finances, forcing them to move. Needing to contribute to the family income, Anna and Susan began writing poems and stories for publicaiton. The girls launched parallel literary careers which resulted in 106 publications, eighteen of them co-authored.
   One of their most successful joint projects was a novel titled Say and Seal in which a little boy named Johnny Fox is dying. His Sunday School teacher, John Linden, comforts him by taking him in his arms, rocking him, and making up a little song: "Jesus loves me, this I know, for the Bible tells me so. . . ." 
   The novel became a best-seller, second only to Uncle Tom's Cabin; and when hymnwriter William Bradbury read the words of John Linden's little song (written by Anna), he composed a childlike musical score to go along with them. "Jesus Loves Me," soon became the best-known children's hymn on earth.

 
 Some encouraging words-

~ We're to be careful about allowing bitterness to creep into our lives. It can and will ruin us spiritually. When we drink the poison of bitterness, we’re not hurting anyone but ourselves!
