#5 How is This an Analogy for Intercession?

C. Peter Wagner continues in his book, PRAYER SHIELD, "First, Ahasuerus, politically speaking, was omnipotent within his kingdom.

In that respect he represents God. Haman represents Satan who comes to steal, to kill and to destroy. Esther is the intercessor, the one who 'stands in the gap.'

Mordecai takes the role of the Holy Spirit in communicating the
will of God in the matter to Esther.

In the course of this book I will name and describe many real-life contemporary intercessors. The bear an astounding resemblance to Esther.

Esther was humble, not arrogant. She was submissive to authority. She was tuned in to the voice of God and willing to obey what she heard even at the risk of her life.

She was dependent on what we would now refer to as the Body of Christ, asking her fellow Jews to support her in prayer and fasting.

She herself also fasted for three days. When she felt in tune spiritually, she was ready to say, "I will go to the king, which is against the law; and if I perish, I perish!" Esther 4:16.

When Esther approached the throne of the king, she was welcomed because of a previously developed love relationship.

A special intimacy with God is high on the profile of intercessors. As a result, the king used his power to save the people of God.

As today's intercessors testify, the highest reward of the ministry of intercession is to be received in love by the Father and to see His power released for good through their intervention."

Let’s pray:  Father, I ask for a more intimate relationship with You. I understand that as I relate well with You, I will be able to pray more effectively for others and their needs. Help me commit to a set-apart-time with You and Your Word, to enable me to experience Your Love more fully. In Jesus' name, Amen.

Today's prayer for your pastor: "Pray that your pastor will love God with all his heart, soul, mind, and strength. Pray that God's Spirit will work in his heart in power and that he will value and follow biblical priorities." Deut. 6:5; Matt. 6:33  [Taken from"31 Days of Praying for Your Pastor", LIFE ACTION Revival Ministries]

Today’s Bible verse:  Ps. 111:6 NKJV "He has declared to His people the power of his works, in giving them the heritage of the nations."

Today’s quote:
Joseph Prince - Your only responsibility in any situation you face, is to bring Jesus into the picture. When He is involved, He makes all things beautiful in His time! (Ecclesiastes
3:11)

Our thought today: The human race is in rebellion against God. We’ll always find something that runs against Him, the Creator.

Today's Church Chuckle:  SERVICE NOTICE: If all of the pews are full when you arrive, please wait in the aisle for help from one of the pushers."  [From a book by Ellen P. Blooming/Paul Seaburn]

God alone knows what method is needed in each situation.
