Don’t Forget You’re Leaving

Don't Forget You're Leaving

When our Lord, for Heaven was leaving
On a silver cloud ascending
He gave word He’d be returning
To take us Home with Him attending.

So amid your trials alarming
And worldly pleasures so disarming
See on Christ you’re strongly leaning
And don’t forget you’ll soon be leaving.

Though your light is now receding
And tempestuous waves are steady beating
Continue looking to Christ Who’s reigning
And keep in mind you’ll soon be leaving.

Are your health and strength declining?
Then on Christ be all-relying.
Trust His grace; thy faith deciding,
And don’t forget you’ll soon be leaving.

Are you cold and oft’ backsliding,
In Christ’ love you’re not abiding,
And in His Word you’re not confiding,
Have you forgotten that you were leaving?

Have you ceased from holy watching’s,
And look no longer for His coming,
And your sins you’re not forsaking,
Have you forgotten that you were leaving?

Are there things that you’re regretting;-
Awful sins that were besetting?
Confess to Christ and cease from fretting.
Soon He’ll come, your sins forgetting.

Have you from the Truth been turning?
And God’s grace and will you’re spurning?
For Christ’ coming you’re not yearning?
What shame you’ll have at His returning.

Do you find this world appealing;
As your love for Christ it’s stealing?
Embrace the Cross and know its healing.
And don’t forget this world you’re leaving.

When the enemy is assailing
Hide in Christ whose all-prevailing
And whose love is never-failing
And don’t forget you’ll soon be leaving.

Are you vexed by Satan’s chafing?
With fiery darts your soul he’s strafing?
Just remember crowns you’re winning,
And don’t forget you’ll soon be leaving.

Are there loved ones you are grieving?
As to their memory you’re clinging?
Who in Heaven now are waiting?
There is for you a reunion nearing.

Soon He’ll come, His word fulfilling,
Our Savior and King on clouds descending,
Long we’ve looked for His appearing,
Expect this day that you’ll be leaving.

Are you with this world consenting?
Be not false in your pretending,
Turn to Christ with heart repenting,
And you’ll rejoice at His appearing.

 Father,
As long as I am on earth, I ask for Your
grace to overcome all hindrances that try
to discourage my walk with Jesus.
May my mind be always steady on His directions and will for my life, and may I
keep a good relationship with Him, desiring
to be with Him in heaven, but grateful for
life and all it holds.
"So amid my trials alarming and worldly
pleasures so disarming, help me strongly lean on Christ, and may I not forget I'll soon be leaving!"

In His Name I pray. Amen.

Today’s Bible verse: Jer. 42:3 "That the LORD thy God may shew us the way wherein we may walk, and the thing that we may do."

Today’s quotes: Dr. Charles F. Stanley- "When you look to God to excuse your unforgiving heart, you'll hear Him answer, 'Look at the cross.' There, you'll discover the price that was paid for your own forgiveness. Colossians 3:13 spells out our solemn responsibility: 'Forgive as the Lord forgave you' NIV, emphasis added). Just as we have been forgiven so we must now become forgivers." (p. 28 in the In Touch daily readings for devoted living - May 2015).

Sharon Jaynes "Until (the) day when we step into God’s full-faced glory once and for all, He gives us tastes in teaspoons of awe, glimpses into peepholes of beauty, and whispers in low decibels of wonder. Glimpses of glory simply whet your appetite and make you hungry for more of God and anxious for home. Glory moments—deposits of the full inheritance that is yet to come when we share in Christ’s glory for all eternity. (Taken from her post, How to be a Radiant Woman

Some thoughts today: We are the channels through which God's
love flows. We've been loved by God, so we can love others. 1 John 3 "Behold, what manner of love the Father hath bestowed upon us..."   (v. 1 a)

- As Christians, we're empowered by God's Holy Spirit to love others, even if they don't love us. Love is the mark that Jesus gives to mark Christians until He returns.

- Romans 12 shows what it looks like to be in relationship with God and the Body of Christ. Be sure to check it out, to see how God's Word has revealed His method of making us more in His image, (which Adam and Eve had at the beginning of time).

Being mad is part of being human..."
