#96 Make God's Priorities Your Prayer Priorities

Dr. Wesley L. Duewel: 4) Make God's priorities your prayer priorities. Day by day God has a highest choice in each situation and for each life.

As God shows you the prayers He wants you to pray, trust the Spirit to guide you to special urgent priorities at moments of need. You do not know who most needs your prayer or for what need God most needs your prayer at any given time.

Live in an unbroken communion with the Lord. Cultivate a listening ear. Whenever He brings a person, situation, or need vividly to your attention, make that your prayer priority for as long as God keeps the concern on your heart.

If at all possible, find free moments or a quiet place where you can pray for this priority. You need not know the details—just obey the Spirit's guidance to pray at the time He suggests the need vividly to your mind.

   S. D. Gordon wrote,

"The Spirit ... is the Master Pray-er. He knows God's will
perfectly. He knows what best to be praying under all
circumstances. And He is within you and me. He is there
as a prayer-Spirit. He prompts us to pray. He calls us
away to the quiet room to our knees.... God listening
above ... recognizes His own purposes and plans being
repeated in this man down on earth by His own Spirit."
(Taken from his book, Quiet Talks on Prayer [New York: Revell,
      1904], 186.)

5) Through prayer, deliberately will God's will. Now that you know God's will in the matter you pray about, you must deliberately commit your whole self, including your will, into prayer insistence.
Dare to pray militantly in regard to the situation, "Your will be done!"

Pastor Johann Blumhardt, mightily used in prayer for the sick and in casting out demons more than a century ago in Germany, knew his power in this ministry depended upon praying according to the will of God.

In his early years he often spent many hours in prayer before he knew whether it was God's will to heal a particular person for whom prayer was requested.

But he testified that "after about two years he came to be so familiar with the inner voice of God that often he would scarcely have lifted his heart to God in communion ere the mind of God in the matter was clearly revealed to him."

[Dr. Duewell gives two instances next that prove we should never insist on our own way, or for the way of someone else. Both instances related it would have been better had the person they were praying for died, as later in life, one became a criminal and was hanged, and the other was grown and causing great sorrow to his mother, as he walked in sin and wickedness].

Mighty Prevailing Prayer
#96 Make God's Priorities Your Prayer Priorities
by Dr. Wesley L. Duewel

(pp. 165 -166) Zondervan

Let's pray-

Lady praying
Father, help us live in an unbroken relationship with You.
May we have listening ears, so we can hear Your impressions to pray for someone's need.
May we take the time to pray about the person You've laid on our hearts, to cover them with sufficient prayer support for as long as it seems necessary.
Help us pray with Your priorities in mind, to work on their behalf. May we be careful to ask for Your will to be accomplished, to Your glory and their good.
We ask this in the name of Jesus. Amen.

Today's Bible verses-

“God is love. When we take up permanent residence in a life of love, we live in God and God lives in us. This way, love has the run of the house, becomes at home and mature in us…” ~ 1 John 4:17-18 (MSG)

“May the God who gives endurance and encouragement give you the same attitude of mind toward each other that Christ Jesus had, so that with one mind and one voice you may glorify the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ.” ~ Romans 15:5-6 (NIV)

The following is from Jean's 3/7 journal of God's answer to her prayer:

"As all things will work together for those who love Me, and who are called to My purpose, you will witness good things to happen, My dear. Prayer, remember is the most powerful act you can make, as I move as a result, to do My will in answer to what My people are asking for."

Sample verses from p. 28-

Lord Jesus Came
and Gave His Life

"As God will wait right near you there
To help you through each day,
You'll find that He is everywhere
And hears you when you pray.

Just bow your head and ask Christ in.
His love to you He'll give.
With resurrection power within
He'll come inside to live."
