Turning Right Side Up

Mike tells us on Pocket Devotions: "My life changed when I became a Christian, I lost the taste for certain things I had become fond of. My friends changed too. With many of them, there just wasn't anything in common anymore. I know people looked at me and thought I was now crazy. They wondered, 'What's wrong with Mike, what's gotten into him?'

We know the answer to that question, Jesus had gotten into me and my life was not turned upside down, rather it was turned right side up. When man rebelled against God in the Garden of Eden, man's rebellion caused the world to not be what God intended. Sin turned the world the world upside down. Jesus is God's plan to turn it right side up again. Unfortunately for us, until Jesus returns, turning the world right side up only happens one person at a time.

This is why when we follow the Lord we feel like such strangers in a strange land. It is also why as Christians we appear to be such trouble causers; we just don't see things in the same way anymore (and we behave accordingly).

In our passage today, Jason and some of the brothers were brought before the city officials accused of providing hospitality to "men who have caused trouble all over the world." I pray, 'Dear God please give us the wisdom to not only see the world as it is, but also the strength to stand against the flood of popular opinion. Lord, let us turn this world -- according to Your will -- right side up once again, one person at a time.'

Questions to Ponder:

How right side up is your life? Take a moment and do some serious self reflection. How different do you see the world than your non-Christian friends? Do you behave accordingly? In other words, does the way you live reflect Jesus or the most popular opinion survey? How can you change your perspective?

Acts 17:6b-7
"...they dragged Jason and some other brothers before the city officials, shouting: 'These men who have caused trouble all over the world have now come here, and Jason has welcomed them into his house. They are all defying Caesar's decrees, saying that there is another king, one called Jesus.' "

Today’s treasure truth #16: If you are “born again”, you are strong in the Lord and in the power of His might. (Eph. 6:10)

Our thought for today: Pray the love of God rules every choice, decision, and action.
