Expect Great Things!

Dennis Fisher shares with us, "William Carey was an ordinary man with an extraordinary faith.

Born into a working-class family in the 18th century, Carey made his living as a shoemaker.

While crafting shoes, Carey read theology and journals of explorers.

God used His Word and the stories of the discovery of new people groups to burden him for global evangelism.

He went to India as a missionary, and not only did he do the work of an evangelist but he learned Indian dialects into which he translated the Word of God.

Carey's passion for missions is expressed by his words: 'Expect great things from God; attempt great things for God.'

Carey lived out this maxim, and thousands have been inspired to do missionary service by his example.

The Bible tells of many whose faith in God produced amazing results.

Hebrews tells of those
  •     who through faith subdued kingdoms,
  •     worked righteousness,
  •     obtained promises,
  •     stopped the mouths of lions,
  •     quenched the violence of fire,
  •     escaped the edge of the sword,
  •     out of weakness were made strong' Heb.11:33-44

The list of heroes of the faith has grown through the ages, and we can be a part of that list.

Because of God's power and faithfulness, we can attempt great things for God and expect great things from God."

Can paint the clouds that drift on by,
Can send the sun across the sky,

When God is your partner,
you can make your plans large!

Our Daily Bread

Prayer:  Father, I can see how it is important to You that I understand Your desire to use me today. I ask for insight for each opportunity to do the things You direct. May I not be overcome with helpless thoughts, except in my own ability, to do what you direct. Keep me focused on Your ability to make me able to succeed! In Jesus' name, Amen

Our Scripture for today:

2 Chron. 14:11 "..LORD, it is nothing with thee to help, whether with many, or with them that have no power: help us O LORD our God; for we rest on thee, and in thy name we go against this multitude. O LORD, thou at our God; let not man prevail against thee."

Today’s quote:

Max Lucado – “The same one who saved your soul longs to remake your heart. His plan is nothing short of a total transformation. Let’s fix our eyes on Jesus. Perhaps in seeing Him, we will see what we can become!”

Our thought for today:

Is your daily self-talk filled with hopeless thoughts? Let God in on your conversations to yourself to give you hope and direction.
