Dr. R. A. Torrey shares with us that "These seven words, (Ye Have Not Because Ye Ask Not), contain the secret of the poverty and powerlessness of the average Christian, of the average minister, and of the average Church.
"Why is it," many a Christian is asking, "that I make such poor progress in my Christian life?
Why do I have so little victory over sin? Why do I win so few souls to Christ?
Why do I grow so slowly into the likeness of my Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ?"
And God answers in the words of our text - "Neglect of prayer. You have not, because you ask not."
"Why is it," many a minister is asking, "that I see so little fruit from my ministry? Why are there so few conversions?
Why does my church grow so slowly? Why are the members of my church so little helped by my ministry, and built up so little in Christian knowledge and life?"
And again God replies: "Neglect of prayer. You have not because you ask not."
When we read the only inspired church history that was ever written, the history of the Church in the days of the Apostles as it is recorded by Luke (under the inspiration of the Holy Spirit) in the Acts of the Apostles, what do we find?
We find a story of constant victory, a story of perpetual progress."

The next post on 6/13 by Dr. R. A. Torrey will be #18 20,000 Christians in Prayer Groups [Dr. R. A. Torrey's last message for us from his booklet, what Prayer can do]
Let’s pray: Father, help our unbelief, that You hear us, and that we do have a major part in bringing about Your will for us. May we be diligent to ask for what we believe is Your will for us, our friends, family, and community. Impress upon our hearts the importance of our asking for Your intervention, so changes can be made. May Your will be done, to Your glory, and our good! In Jesus' name, Amen.
Today’s Bible verse: (Ps. 9:10) "And they that know thy name will put their trust in thee; for thou, LORD, has not forsaken them that seek thee."
Today’s quote: “Since we are among those who’ve been forgiven much, let’s stop the damage and share that blessing with others.”Joe Stowell
Our thought today: Your destiny does not lie in anything around you, such as riches, financial status, race, or circumstances. You have access to God through Christ, no matter what!
Read Luke 6:20. Jesus said we are blessed, no matter what we're in the midst of, if we will search for Him. He is available to us. We cannot buy our salvation, so riches won't help us.
Our attitude and desire are what will enable us to obtain it through Christ, by our faith in Him, our repentance of sins, and obedience to His Word.
