#46 The Issue of Personal Ministry

C. Peter Wagner shares more with us from his book, PRAYERSHIELD:

"I am praying that this chapter, (#4, Secrets of Pastors' Prayer Lives), which has been very frank and honest, will be used by God to draw thousands of pastors closer to Him than they have been before.

I am confident He will do that.

A word of encouragement along these lines came from a pastor I had lunch with soon after I did the survey.

He shared that the most significant part of our conversation for him was discovering what I was learning about prayer.'

He writes, 'After hearing about the average time in prayer for pastors as 22 minutes, and what God is doing in response to the prayers of His people around the world, I have determined to spend two hours a day in prayer.

Since beginning this, he says, 'I have sensed the presence and power of the Holy Spirit in a new way in my life and ministry.'

Most pastors I know recognize that they need to improve their prayer lives.

One way they can do this is to personally pray more regularly, and for longer periods of time.

They can also learn to receive the intercession of others. The rest of the book, (PRAYER SHIELD), will deal with receiving personal intercession.

As pastors and leaders we tend to be activists. We can easily identify with Joshua out there in the battle of Rephidim.

What we need to learn more about is how God can bring into our lives and ministries people who, as Moses did for Joshua, will spend hours and days in the presence of God on our behalf so that His power flows liberally to give us the effectiveness we desire in our personal ministry."

Today’s post -#46  The Issue of Personal Ministry, in the series taken from C. Peter Wagner’s book, PRAYER SHIELD, How to intercede for pastors, Christian leaders and others on the spiritual frontlines.(pg.92)

Today's Christmas-giving idea comes from Natasha Crain's
ChristianMomThoughts, Inspiration for Intentional Christian Parenting.

It's all about wrapping an empty present under the tree—a beautiful lesson for little ones and adults alike when it comes to the gospel in action. It's a meaningful Christmas gift idea.

Let’s pray:

Father, We are aware of our need to pray for our pastors and leaders now.

May we be an encouragement to each of them by telling them we're praying for them regularly.

Help our pastors and leaders make time to pray more.

May they understand that You desire for more time with them, to strengthen and empower their efforts in the calling on their lives.

We ask this in the precious Name of our Savior, Jesus. Amen

Today’s Bible verse: Prov. 4:18 NIV "The path of the righteous is like the first gleam of dawn, shining ever brighter till the full light of day."

Today's Quote: Joel Osteen – “You don’t have to have great faith for God to do something great. You can have small faith and God will move a mountain.”

Some thoughts today: You may be a key person in a particular situation to minister God's love. Do not hold back, as Jesus is with you to guide what you say, do, and think. Allow His Spirit to anoint you in the situation, to show that He loves and cares for them.

- God's putting a supernatural touch in you. Trust Him!

- Reach out and pray for someone, so God can touch them.

A popular post:  Thoughts and Temptations: Prayer Note #80  "In intercession we must declare boldly that no weapon of Satan’s will prosper. We must bind his plans and stand against them through prayer. We can and should pray that the unbeliever be shielded from Satan’s thoughts and temptations."

We can be a blessing to others
by our heart-felt prayer.
