Part 2- How CAN we hear from God? (8-14 of 21 ways)

Jean Oathout continues with 7 more ways
of God speaking to us.

Hopefully, we're learning different ways that God does speak.

If you will be on the alert, you'll discover the ways He wants to speak His love to you, too.

So, if you're ready, let's examine 8 more ways today:

8. Prophets- God can speak to us using true prophets. Their messages can bring comfort, build our faith, and give us assurance that we are following God's direction for our lives.

 9. Our thoughts- We’ll need to learn to
discern what thoughts are ours, which are ones from the evil one, and which are ones God is speaking to us. If they are peaceful, they'll be from God. When we pray, God
will guide our thoughts, as to what to pray for.
 10.  Poetry- Some poems deeply touch us through
the author’s wisdom in arranging his/her thoughts on
a given subject. We can sense God speaking through the
verses and react to them as words formed just for us for our current circumstance.

11. Enemies-  Yes, even someone we might consider an enemy may be used by God to speak some truth to us. Consider what was said, and find truths that confirm what God's been telling you. Remember the donkey in the Bible who spoke to the disobedient prophet?

12. Preachers, teachers, & evangelists- When we hear preachers, teachers, and special guest ministers, we can listen for words that are for us. Because there has been much prayer on the behalf of the speaker as to what the congregation needs to hear, we’ll be wise to be open and to listen for God to speak through the messages to us.

13. Stories/books- What we read will impress us one way or another, to reach out to God, or to pull further away from Him. Some good books are offered by Charles Stanley, Joyce Meyers, Max Lucado, and Chuck Smith.

14. Testimonies- Personal testimonies of what others have learned about God will inspire us to believe Him more, too.

Let’s pray:

Father, knowing that You desire to speak to each one of us, may I learn to be more open to You. Help me become aware of the ways You're choosing to speak to me personally.
May I be more attentive to what others are saying, and to recognize Your messages to me. I ask this in the Name of Jesus. Amen

Today’s Bible verse: Ps. 51:10 "Create in me a clean heart, O God: and renew a right spirit within me."

Today’s quote: Deborah Crawford - "Gazing at the heavens, I wondered how is it that I hear God? Something or someone stands in the middle of the span of communication, bringing together heaven and heart. Deep calls to deep and I’m convinced a conduit accomplishes the connection.

Jesus is my conduit. He stands in the gap, bridging the distance between heaven and my heart. When I look upward and consider God’s handiwork, I’m overwhelmed at His revelation to me through Jesus.

Deep calls to deep when heaven speaks to my heart. Surveying the beauty and glory of the skies for God’s wisdom, I hear God’s voice and I know how to conduct my life in Christ Jesus."

Some thoughts today: Give God all in exchange for all of Him. Divine exchange!

- We have the same power Jesus had! We just need to learn to allow the Holy Spirit to guide us in all that we do.

- Today's trend is to de-evaluate the family. We need to pour into our families, as that's where our ministry starts!

A popular post:  This Path is for Me  David Roper shares
with us in his book, Psalm 23, The Song of a Passionate
Heart a poem by J. R. Miller: "He chose his path for me,
Though well he knew that thorns would pierce my feet..."

We each have a path
that God takes us on.
