Forgiveness Does not Come to Those

Forgiveness does not come to those
Who will not take its hand
And with determined faithfulness
Fulfill Salvation's plan

Who by the grace of God through Christ
Accept what He has done
Through giving as a Sacrifice
His first begotten Son

The Son Who always reigned with Him
In realms beyond the sky
Who purposed in creation's plan
That He would come to die

If man whom He would soon create
Should lose the will to live
In perfect love's obedience
To do the Father's will

To think can you imagine love
For one you'd never known
But for whom you proposed to be
Of value to atone

Their life again in love to yours
Together one to be
A living testimony
Of love's power once set free

For love can only be expressed
In facets of design
When given freedom to depart
And even to resign

But should it choose to grasp instead
The hand that sets it free
It's then and only then you'll find
How perfect love can be

So should you chance to wonder
If the Lord could love you still
Forgiving all your sinful past
Committed by your will

Just look at what He's done to prove
The heights and depths of love
And to the great extent He went
To draw your heart above

And turn to Him on bended knee
As with uplifted hands
Devoting all that you have left
To follow God's commands

And then accept the sweetest peace
That only God can give
To those who by His grace through faith
Release what He forgives

And then as you accept His great
Forgiveness for your past
Then likewise do for others
To ensure your sins are cast

Into the sea never more to be
Remembered as your own
For God has made a place for you
Beside Him on His throne

Today’s quote: Randy Frazee - "God knows we will break his rules rulesthat he established to help us live well and treat each other
with kindness and respect. It breaks his heart when this happens, but it doesn't prevent him from giving us the most remarkable gift he can give; forgiveness.

But he can only do this if we acknowledge what we've done and refuse to rationalize our way out of it. One of the great promises in the Bible is this: "If we confess our sins, [God] is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins. (John 1:9) Taken from Randy's book, p. 115 of THE HEART OF THE STORY.

Today’s Bible verse: Ecc. 8:1 b "a man's wisdom maketh his face to shine, and the boldness of his face shall be changed."

Our prayer for today: "Create in me a clean heart, O God; and renew a right spirit within me." Ps. 51:10

Our thought today: We don't need to wait for others to ask for forgiveness. We need to forgive, as a spiritual decision.

Forgive? Jean Oathout shares some thoughts about forgiving those who've hurt us so deeply. First of all, WE can't forgive to the point that we let some offense go completely..."
