#54 Your Need Appeals to God's Heart of Love

Dr. Wesley L. Duewel: Your prayer moves Him deeply. But without faith your prayer is incomplete.

Talking to God without faith is not true intercession. Faith submits your need to the will of God and lays hold of the power of God. Faith honors God, and God delights to respond to faith.
In the process of prevailing intercession, faith proceeds step by step:

1. Faith accepts God's revelation that you are created in the image of God, created to represent Him on earth and to rule on his behalf (Gen. 1:26-28).

2. Faith accepts Christ's redemption, making you a child of God with the spiritual right of access to God at any time for any need (Eph. 2:18)

3. Faith accepts your identity with Jesus, not only in his death, but also in His resurrection and exaltation, so that you now sit in the heavenlies with Christ at the right hand of the Father (Eph. 2:6). Faith accepts your role as a king and priest to God (Rev. 1:6; 1 Peter 2:5, 9; Exod. 19:6; Isa. 61:6; Rev. 5:10; 20:6)

4. Faith recognizes the Spirit's aid as He indwells you and deepens your desires and guides your intercession (Rom. 8:26-27). In the words of Andrew Murry, 'Faith sees the intercession of the saints to be part of the life of The Trinity. The believer as God's child asking of the Father, in the Son through the Spirit.'

5. Faith is overwhelmed by the amazing love of God to provide such a kingdom plan of your sharing in Christ's present rule through prayer. You bow in humble submission to the will of God, boldly daring to exercise the role to which God has called and exalted you.

Faith gives determination to be all that God wants you to be through Christ."

Let's pray-

Father, help us realize that our faith is what gets Your attention.

May Your Spirit overwhelm us to where we begin to understand the power in intercessory prayer, and what it is all about.

Help us remember the place and privilege we have as Your children, and how we're to petition You for the needs of others, as well as ourselves.

I ask this for Jesus' glory, and for His Kingdom to come among us where we live. Amen.

Today's Bible verses-

(Ps. 3:3 KJV) "But thou, O LORD, art a shield for me; my glory, and the lifter up of mine head."

(Ps. 37:3, 4 AMP) "Trust (lean on, rely on, and be confident) in the Lord and do good; so shall you dwell in the land and feed surely on His faithfulness, and truly you shall be fed. 4) Delight yourself also in the Lord, and He will give you the desires and secret petitions of your heart."

Today's quotes-

"If you've been hurt by jerks in the church or stung by human religion, I would suggest that the way you start again might not be by 'going to church.' It might be by starting a relationship with 'the church'—God's people. Sitting down over a coffee and talking about your pain with one or two healthy gospel-centered Christian friends might bear more fruit than going to a thousand meetings. Church services can come later. Don't worry about that right now. Your hang-ups might hang you up. Start with private relationships or a small group in a home. Let the gospel heal you through relationships."  (Derek Levenduskie)

Dutch Sheets often says, "I've learned that no one is born a prayer hero. They are shaped and refined on the practice field of life."
