Max Lucado: When God announced Moses was to deliver the Israelites, Moses wasn’t convinced! God demonstrated that who Moses was didn’t matter. What mattered was who God was.
“Moses”, spoke the voice from the bush, “Throw down your staff” (Exodus 4:3).
God you may not know . . . well, you don’t go around throwing down your staff. You never know when . . . (Google image Moses and the burning bush)
“Moses! Pick it up by the tail.”
God, out here, well, you don’t pick up snakes too often and never by the tail.
“Moses!”
Yessir!
As Moses touched the squirmy scales, it hardened. Moses lifted up the rod--the same rod he would lift up to divide the water and guide two million people through the desert.
If God can do something with stubborn hearts and a stiff-necked people . . . he can do something with the common!"

When the rod became a snake, Moses began to run.
“Moses! Pick it up by the tail.”

Let's pray-
Oh, God, You've been so good to us. May we not forget that You're fully aware of each of us and our needs today.
May we understand that Your desire is to do something with stubborn hearts and stiff-necked people, which we've all been guilty of.
Please soften our hearts, that we will not only hear Your Voice, but obey You fully and quickly.
We ask this in Jesus' Name. Amen.

Today's Bible verses-
(Lamentations 3:25, 26 KJV) "The LORD is good unto them that wait for him, to the soul that seeketh him. It is good that a man should both hope and quietly wait for the salvation of the LORD."
(Is. 45:21 b KJV) "There is no God else beside me; a just God and a Saviour; there is none beside me."
(Ps. 145:8, 9 KJV) "The LORD is gracious, and full of compassion; slow to anger, and of great mercy. The LORD is good to all: and his tender mercies are over all his works."
Today's quote-
Daybreak
Pink is spreading through the sky.
The morning's finally come and I,
Through tears of joy, welcome the dawn.
For night has been both hard and long
But with the rising of the sun
Comes joy in what my God has done,
As He walked with me through the black
Of darkest night, and drew me back
To greet the new day, in its grace,
With greater peace and growing faith
From all I learned that long, cold night -
To walk by faith, and not by sight.
Your Word says joy come with the dawn.
Lord, here we are. You were not wrong;
For greater joy I've never known,
But found, at last, in You alone.
"Weeping may endure for a night,
But joy comes in the morning"
Ps. 30:5 b NKJV

All creation sings the praises of the Lord
Every mountain, hill, stream and sunset shouts
"The Great I Am made me
Look at His creativity
Behold what He can do and what He does
None can compare with the one and only Jehovah
Look at His handiwork
and let your heart shout His praises."

A sample verse from p. 61-
"As you seek God's Face you will see
He'll help you to endure.
The plans He has for you will be
Wheat's best for you I'm sure."

ReplyDeleteI really like Max Lucado's writing and found this very helpful and pertinent to me. I've been stiff necked many times in my life. Fortunately, God is persistent and helped me through those times.
