Old Yet New [Kentucky Sinkhole]

Dave Branon: In 2014, a sinkhole opened up under the National corvette Museum in Kentucky, swallowing eight vintage, irreplaceable Chevrolet Corvette sports cars.

The automobiles were severely damaged — some beyond repair. One car in particular received a lot of attention. The one-millionth Corvette, which rolled off the assembly line in 1992, was the most valuable in the collection. (Sinkhole in Kentucky, Google image)

What happened to that gem after it was pulled from the sinkhole is fascinating. Experts restored the car to mint condition, mainly by using and repairing its original parts.

[Click on the words below the next photo, and read all about it and view the pictures! There's even some videos you can watch of the hole being filled in, and of the 1 millionth Corvette being restored!]

The old and damaged was made new.

This is a great reminder of what God has in store for believers in Jesus. In Revelation 21:1, John spoke of seeing "a new heaven and a new earth."

Many biblical scholars see this "new" earth as a renovated earth, for their study of the word new Here reveals that it means "fresh" or "restored" after the decay of the old has been wiped away.

God will renovate what is corrupt on this earth and provide a fresh, yet familiar place where believers will live with Him.

What an amazing truth to contemplate: a new, refreshed, familiar, and beautiful earth. Imagine the majesty of God's handiwork!

Let's pray-

Father, with this story as an example of full restoration, we can believe that You plan to renovate our world into its original beauty too, someday, just as they have the Corvette.
As it's a glorious future believers in Jesus have, may we understand what will be our reward for believing and faithfully following Your Word each day.
We ask for further enlightenment on this subject, to encourage us to serve You in the way You've lead us to, and with the talents You've given each of us.
I ask this is Jesus' name. Amen.

I invite you to check out my friend, Debbie McEwen's new blog post and find out why.

Today's Bible verses-

(Revelation 21:1- 4 NIV) "Then I saw a new Heaven and a new earth, for the first heaven and the first earth had passed away, and there was no longer any sea. (v 2) I saw the Holy City, the new Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, prepared as a bride beautifully dressed for her husband. (v 3) And I heard a loud voice from the throne saying, 'Now the dwelling of God is with men, and he will live with them They will be his people, and God himself will be with them and be their God. (v 4) He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away.' "

Today's quote-

Oswald Chambers: "No enthusiasm will ever stand the strain that Jesus Christ will put upon His worker, only one thing will, and that is a personal relationship to Himself which has gone through the mill of His spring cleaning until there is only one purpose left—I am here for God to send me where He will. Every other thing may get fogged, but this relationship to Jesus Christ must never be." (p. 554 of Devotions for MORNING and EVENING with OSWALD CHAMBERS, 1994).

Jean's testimony

Sample verses from p. 108-

Lord God, May Our
Hearts Come to Know

"Lord God, may our hearts come to know
That You will be enough.
It is with hope that we will grow
Through trials that are tough.

May we now see that You do care
To guide us through each day.
We long to know that You are there
And show us what to say."
