Gathered Home

Lisa Buffaloe- While rereading Genesis
the other day, this verse stood out . . .
“Abraham breathed his last and died
in a ripe old age, an old man and
satisfied with life; and he was gathered
to his people."  ~ Genesis 25:8 (NASB)

Abraham died and was gathered to his people. Isaac, Jacob, and others are mentioned at their deaths that they also were gathered to their people.

Death is not the end. Death leads to life. (Lisa's photo)

For those who follow God, death leads to the biggest and best homecoming
of all. God’s people wait to welcome home family. "Precious in the sight of
the Lord is the death of His godly ones.”
 ~ Psalm 116:15 (NASB)

“The righteous man perishes, and no man takes it to heart; and
devout men are taken away, while no one understands. For the righteous
man is taken away from evil, he enters into peace . . . ”
~ Isaiah 57:1-2 (NASB)

Jesus is the life, the truth, and the way home. As a Christian,“we are not
afraid but are quite content to die, for then we will be at home with the
Lord.” ~ 2 Corinthians 5:8 (TLB) We come home to our Savior and
are gathered to our people.

Those who love us, our people (God’s people) wait at the pearly gates
to welcome us home. Our loved ones, those who have gone before
us, were gathered tenderly, sweetly, and with exceeding joy as they
came home, and they will be there when we arrive. Happy sigh . . .

“and He will wipe away every tear from their eyes; and
there will no longer be any death; there will no longer be
any mourning, or crying, or pain; the first things have

     passed away.”  ~Revelation 21:4 (NASB)

Let’s Pray

"Dear Lord, I don't have the future figured out, nor do I have
my days mapped out. But, you do. You know it all and see it all.
Help me to persevere in this place of wait. Help me to fall back
into your arms that will catch me when I feel weary. Help me to
remember you are growing my faith and developing qualities
that will last forever.: Help me to remember eternity. In Jesus'
Name, Amen." (When Waiting Feels Excruciating Kelly Balarie).

Today's quote-

Sim Kay Tee's insight"In the Jewish temple, a curtain sixty feet high and thirty feet wide separated the Holy Place from the Most Holy Place. Anyone who entered the Most Holy Place was entering into God's holy presence. Only the high priest—and only once a year on the Day of Atonement and after he had meticulously cleansed himself—could enter the Most Holy Place; anyone else would die (see Ex. 26:31-33; Lev. 16).
At the moment Jesus died as payment for our sin, "the curtain of the temple was torn in two from top to bottom" (Matt. 27:51),  signifying that God had taken down the wall that separated us from Him. Because of Christ's sacrifice, "we have confidence to enter the Most Holy Place by the blood of Jesus, by a new and living way opened for us through the curtain, that is, his body" (Heb. 10:19-20).Through Christ, we now "have access to the Father" (Eph. 2:18). What a privilege!

Today's question-

What does God have next for us?

To live clean, innocent lives as children of God.
We're called to be witnesses /missionaries of the love of God to others. Here are 7 brief thoughts to strengthen your witness:

   1. Love God. What your heart clings to, is your god. What drives you? Who is first in your life? Who is faithful through your trials?

   2. Love your neighbor. Let your love depend on your love for God. Greet people. Weep with those who weep.

   3. Serve the community. Find ways.

   4. Pray for your neighbors. This includes all those in authority, such as the President, congressmen and senators.

   5. Live honorably. Children parrot us. Honor all people, fear God and honor the "king."

   6. Guard your tongue. Our tongues reveal what is hidden in our hearts. If there's good treasure in your heart, share it; otherwise, keep quiet.

   7. Share the Gospel/preach. We have the answer the world needs to hear. Jesus fixed our relationship with the Father by restoring us to Him by His death on the cross to pay for our sins. (My notes taken from a message by Ben Levendusky, November, 13, 2016 Ambassadors of Christ)
