True Humility

Mrs. Frannie Erb- Humility is not an attitude, but a stern reality born out of deep, crushing, crucifying experiences that leave the soul without a single trace of bitterness, retaliation, or rebellion.

On one hand it makes the soul bendable, teachable, leadable, submissive and passive in God's hands. On the other hand it makes it unbendable, uncompromising, solid, established and fixed for God and true holiness. (Google image, Good looking young man)

The devil cannot do anything with the humble man. If he tries to discourage him by telling him he is no account, he already knows that, and he only leans harder on God.

God can do everything with the humble man. He can put him where others would get a big head and spoil everything. He can put him where others would complain, think they are ill-treated and abused.

The strange thing about it is that if you should speak to the truly humble man about his humility he would look at you in surprise, never considering himself to be humble at all.

The humble man or woman has only one concern, and that is to mind God. Grateful for the least of God's favors, his heart is filled with loving adoration and praise to God.

Not living for self any longer, he has nothing to lose and everything to gain. Just keeping his eyes on Jesus. No matter where He leads, or what path He may choose for him, he is satisfied with God's order. This is true humility.  (Mrs. Fannie Erb, condensed.)

Let's pray-

Father, may we have learned from our stern realities, born out of deep, crushing, crucifying experiences. Hopefully, they have left our souls without bitterness, retaliation or rebellion.
Make us bendable, teachable, leadable, and submissive in Your hands, thus making us unbendable, uncompromising, solid and established and fixed for what true holiness means to You.
You can do everything with someone who is humble; put him where others would get a big head and spoil everything; or put him where others would complain, thinking they were ill-treated and abused.
The humble man or woman has only one concern; to do what You direct, grateful for Your favors, and with a heart filled with loving adoration and praise.
No matter where You lead, may we keep our eyes on You and choose the path You have laid out for us, and be satisfied with Your plan for our lives.
Help us experience true humility in our living. I ask this in the Lord Jesus' name. Amen.

Today's quotes-

~ Sharon Jaynes "Did you know that you’ve got what it takes to do all that God has prepared for you to do? The Bible says, “His divine power has given us everything we need for life and godliness through our knowledge of him who called us by his own glory and goodness” (2 Peter 1:3, emphasis added).
Don’t waste time comparing yourself to anyone else. Sharpen your skills. Practice your trade. Exercise your gifts. Grab hold of the truth and be on your way."

~ James Banks- "The deep love Jesus demonstrated through His death on the cross frees us from the debt for our sins and opens the way for our reconciliation with God (Co. 1:19-20). His forgiveness empowers us to forgive others as we realize we can't forgive in our own strength and ask Him to help us. When we love others because our Savior loves them and forgive because He has forgiven us, God gives us strength to let go of the past and walk forward with Him into beautiful new places of grace."

Prayer is a vital aspect of Christian living. We are to Rejoice always, pray without ceasing, in everything give thanks; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.
(1 Thess 5:16–18). We should work toward a continual state of prayer unto God—praying constantly and always being mentally prepared to pray. Furthermore, we should Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God.(Phil 4:6). We rely upon God to meet all our needs. We have no reason to worry when we have a God who cares about His people.

The Rewards of Obedience

Christy Lindsay-

After praying for a year for the chance to write professionally, God led me to write a column for my local weekly newspaper.
One morning I received an email from my sister-in-law's mother who alerted be to this opportunity. I have now been writing for Community News for ten years . . . God directs us toward His purposes.
And sometimes His will surprises us. We never know where we will find joy in God’s service, but He gives us a sense of satisfaction when we serve Him, because we are obedient. And obedience is a reward in itself . . . Obey God, and see what He gives you to do."
