Jean Oathout: "Forgiveness is not easy – but it is necessary if we want to experience peace and joy.
Part of forgiveness is releasing the person from the debt we think they owe us. Refusing to do so extinguishes our joy. (Google image, I'm sowwy please forgive me).
by Mary Southerland
Sometimes we just need to let go and cut our losses instead of allowing the weight of an unpaid debt deplete our mental and emotional energy. In other words, we can forgive the debt and set ourselves free.
If we make the choice to forgive, God will supply the forgiveness.
There should be no limit to our forgiveness because there is no limit to His.
Forgiveness is our greatest need and God’s greatest gift."
Gift of Forgiveness
Dr. Charles F. Stanley shares with
us about forgiveness in his magazine,
In Touch:
Webster defines gift as "something
given to show friendship, affection,
support, etc."
Let's pray-
Father, it isn't easy to forgive; we have all found that out. May we understand today, that if we want to experience peace and joy, we must make a habit to forgive.
Help us understand that our joy is extinguished if we don't release the person from the debt we think they owe us.
May we learn to forgive the debt and set ourselves free, so we'll make the choice to forgive; You will supply the ability to forgive when asked.
Because forgiveness is Your greatest gift for our greatest need, there is no limit to Your forgiveness. Therefore, there should be no limit to our forgiving others.
Remind us of Your ample grace to forgive us our trespasses against You, so we'll be quick to forgive those we hold any grudges against. We ask this in Christ's name. Amen.
Today's Bible verses-
kindness that he purchased our freedom through
the blood of His Son, and our sins are forgiven."
Psalm 86:5 (NLT) "O Lord, you are so good, so ready
to forgive, so full of unfailing love for all who ask for
your help.
Ps. 66:18 (KJV) "If I regard iniquity in my heart, the
Lord will not hear."
Matt 5:23-24 (NKJV) "Therefore if you bring your gift
to the altar, and there remember that your brother
has something against you, leave your gift there before the
altar, and go your way. First be reconciled to your brother,
and then come and offer your gift."
Today’s quote:
~ Margaret Feinburg – “Unforgiveness holds us back from fully experiencing God's wonder. Sometimes the hardest person to forgive is yourself. Take fifteen minutes to prayerfully consider any things for which you've had a hard time forgiving yourself. Record them on a blank sheet of paper. Then take a few moments to forgive yourself for each one.
After you forgive yourself, rip up the sheet of paper as a sign of keeping no record of wrongs. Allow yourself to celebrate the forgiveness God offers you through Jesus. You are a wondrous child of God! Spend some time thanking God for the way he created you and the redemptive work he's doing in your life, and walk in the wonder of forgiveness." Wonderstruck

~ Facts about forgiveness: "Forgiveness is a huge stumbling block for so many, but we all are called upon to forgive in our lives. Some things are minor and easy to forgive . . . other things are so egregious, that it is only through God’s grace and strength that we are able to forgive. If we choose to live with unforgiveness, it can impact us on every level of our lives." [Many helpful videos offered. Great post!]
