#28 In the Glory of His Father

What Jesus Prayed About   Samuel Chadwick: The fact that we pray to God our Father in heaven tells us much as to how we should pray. The Son of God gloried in the glory of His Father.

It was His habit to rise early that He might behold His glory and delight in His presence. He rejoiced in the Father's greatness and in the majesty of His power. (Google image, Jesus praying)

It is good to go over His affirmations of the Father. "MY FATHER!"  The accents of adoring love vibrate in every tone. "God is spirit; and they that worship Him must worship Him in spirit and in truth, for the Father seeketh
such to worship Him." "My Father . . . is greater than all . . . I and the Father are one."

He loved to dwell upon the care and bounty of the Father's love. Nothing is insignificant. Each is to the Infinite as if there were no other. Even the odd sparrow is not forgotten, and man is so much the more the child of His care that even the hairs of His head are numbered.

He lived in the sovereign will of the Holy and Righteous Father. He did not pray to subdue the Father's will to His desire; but that the will of the Father might be done. The sweat and agony of prayer were in the strong praying of the Father's Son, and it was always in obedience to the Father's will.

Because we pray to our heavenly Father in the secret place of prayer, we may pray with the artless unreserve of little children. There is nothing about which we may not pray. We pray as His children, and we trust Him as our heavenly Father.

His answer will transcend our asking. Prayer is in itself a discipline and an education. The Spirit instructs and trains in the school of prayer. A true father waits to bless in discretion, as well as in readiness. Sometimes He waits for us. Sometimes the answer is given long before the one who prayed is told, but "every one that asketh, receiveth."

Dr. Adoniram Judson, as he lay dying, heard of the remarkable answer to his prayer for the Jews when he was a missionary in Burma, and he uttered this testimony:

"I never prayed sincerely and earnestly for anything but it came; at some time—no matter how distant the day—somehow, in some shape, probably the last I should have devised, it came."

"When thou prayest, enter into thy inner chamber, and when thou hast shut thy door, pray to thy Father which is in secret"

"UNTO HIM THAT IS ABLE TO DO EXCEEDING ABUNDANTLY ABOVE ALL THAT WE ASK OR THINK."

Let's pray-

Father, as Jesus gloried in Your glory, rising early so that He could delight in Your presence, rejoicing in Your greatness and in the majesty of Your power, help us to be steadfast in praying too.
He loved to dwell upon Your care and bounty of love for Him. He lived for Your sovereign will. He prayed in the garden, knowing that His physical desire differed from Yours, but He was determined to be obedient to Your will for Him.
As we pray to You, our heavenly Father, in the secret place of prayer, remind us that we can pray about anything that concerns us. As Your children, we're to trust You completely.
We know that Your Spirit will answer us, as He instructs with discipline, educating us in the school of prayer. Help us see that You're ready and willing to help, though there are times You're waiting on us before the answer can come.
Bring us to where we simply await Your guidance in our praying, knowing that Your will is best, and that You have a good plan for each of us. We ask this in Jesus' name. Amen.

Today's Bible verses-

Romans 5:5 "Such hope never disappoints or deludes
or shames us, for God's love has been poured out in
our hearts through the Holy Spirit who has been given
       to us.

John 6:37 "All that the Father giveth me shall
come to me; and him that cometh to me I will in
       no wise cast out."

2 Cor. 12:9, 10 (KJV) "And He said to me, [Paul]
'My grace is sufficient for you, for My strength is
made perfect in weakness.' Therefore most gladly
I will rather boast in my infirmities, that the power
of Christ may rest upon me. (v.10) Therefore I take
pleasure in infirmities, in reproached, in needs,
in persecutions, in distressed, for Christ's sake.
For when I am weak, then I am strong."

Today's quote-

~ Daniel Pontious-"Father God wants us to bring him all of our brokenness, pain, issues, and problems and place our hands in his. As we do he will take us into his hands and refashion, remold, and restore our lives; in many cases better than they were before we were broken. Not to say that we won't face trials, issues, and challenges, but in the process of those challenges we will be fully equipped in the Armor of God. Where we approached him naked and bleeding, we will walk out whole and equipped."

Did you know?

~ Our absolute surrender to God is the only solution to finding His purpose for our lives.

~ Our lack is the school for abundance if we trust, surrender our labors, and believe in God's intention to bless us.

Today's popular post-

Dr. Wesley L. Duewel: "We will never have enough time for prevailing prayer unless we deliberately plan for it. Our days will become as crowded as we permit.

The time we give to prayer by deliberately planning is the measure of our value of prayer. It is the measure of our love for those for whom we pray."

Today's question-

Is God's peace available for everyone?

Christ was speaking to His disciples about peace in the following reference, so as Christians, we can also receive this promise of God's peace.
According to John 14:27 (AMP), Christ says, "Peace I leave with you; My [own] peace I now give and bequeath to you. Not as the world gives do I give to you. Do not let your hearts be troubled, neither let them be afraid. [Stop allowing yourselves to be agitated and disturbed; and do not permit yourselves to be fearful and intimidated and cowardly and unsettled.]
Christ's peace is available upon the salvation of souls. It comes in immediately, but takes time to become a Reality to the believer, as he then learns to persevere through the trials and troubles of life with the Holy Spirit's help. By our learning to trust God's grace, we overcome, and His peace becomes a Reality to us.
