GOD HEARS OUR PRAYERS

Emily Marszalek- On the drive to work one morning, I prayed and asked God to honor my fiancé, Nick, for his hard work. You see, I believe God hears our prayers. (Photo courtesy of pixabay.)

As an electrician, Nick experienced many rough days on the job. His workdays were often physically and mentally exhausting, from crawling through spider-infested crawl spaces to maneuvering through 120-degree attics.

I could tell Nick felt discouraged and fatigued over the past several weeks, so I asked God to give him extra encouragement.

Later, while on my lunch break, Nick called. He had exciting news to share. The boss had summoned Nick to his office for an unexpected meeting. He expressed appreciation for Nick’s hard work and dedication and gave him an unexpected raise. I thanked God for blessing Nick and honoring his diligence in such an amazing way.

The vast majority of my prayers aren’t answered with such swiftness, and I certainly recognize God is not a magic genie who grants my every wish and desire.

While God may not answer in the way I want or in the timeframe I desire, He listens and answers my prayers. The psalmist believed that too. So I can rest, believing He knows best for my life. Like the good Father He is, He provides just what we need in His perfect timing.

As we come before God in prayer, we should confess our sins so our hearts will be clean. Then, as we humbly express our needs and desires to God, we can maintain thankful hearts and praise Him for who He is and what He has already provided.

What are some ways you can improve your prayer life? Sometimes, prayer feels pointless. Nothing happens. Nothing changes. But God does hear our prayers. And He does care. Even Jesus spent many days and nights in prayer, and if Jesus recognized the power of prayer, we should too."

"But God has surely listened and has heard my prayer."
Psalm 66:19 NIV

God Hears Our Cries  Emily Marszalek

Mau Fires- a Landscape of Loss. . . and One Symbol of Hope

#4 Testimony- Audrey

"I can't thank God enough because neither Gerry nor I did anything except be in need and pray to our Father in heaven for help, so God undoubtedly gets all the glory. He hears and answers us when we cry out for mercy and help! All Praise to God!

Our particular circumstances were out of the ordinary, as I was sick so unexpectedly, and we needed help and mercy quickly. God is able and gracious in loving kindness!"

Let's pray-

Father, when we pray at home, in church or driving somewhere, may we remember that You hear our prayers. We will uphold our friends and family members on their rough days as they're often physically and mentally exhausted.

Our prayers for You to help them to come against discouragement and fatigue, is what they have need of. We are aware and dependent upon Your showing up in amazing ways. You're not a magic genie who grants our every wish and desire, but You do hear our concern for others, and You will work in their situations and hearts.

As we come before You in prayer, we confess our sins so our hearts will be clean. We humbly express our needs and desires and are determined to have thankful hearts to praise You for who You are and what You have already provided. We thank You too, for the answered prayers we will witness! In the name of Jesus we pray today. Amen.

#4 Hymn, Stand Up, Stand Up for Jesus

This song, Stand Up, Stand Up for Jesus, is taken from the book by Robert J. MorganTHEN SINGS MY SOUL   (pg. 135)

On Tuesday, March 30, 1858, five thousand men gathered to hear Dudley Tyng preach. He told them that he would rather his right arm were amputated at the trunk than that he should come short ot his duty to them in delivering God's message. Over a thousand men were converted that day.
Later, when his arm had to be amputated from getting too close to a corn-thrasher, and it appeared he was dying, Dudley told his father, "Stand Up for Jesus, father, and tell my brethren of the ministry to stand up for Jesus."
Rev. George Duffield of Philadelphia's Temple Presbyterian Church was deeply stirred by Dudley's funeral, and the following Sunday he preached from Ephesians 6:14 about standing firm for Christ. He read a poem he had written inspired by Duidley's words.
The editor of a hymnal heard the poem, found appropriate music, and published it. "Stand Up, Stand Up for Jesus' soon became one of Americca's favorite hymns, extending Dudley's dying words to millions.
