The Bible: Be careful how you handle it!

Jean Oathout asks us to consider these questions: Are we ready to learn that God really does love us?

What is your response to the truth that He does?

It is a soul-moving experience to realize that the Creator of everything loves us individually and desires to have us get to know Him intimately.

Over the years, I've had to go to the Bible many times to get a Word to see me through the day, and have never found what I read to be inadequate for a soothing answer.

When I contemplated what to do, I was often given the answers in the Bible, either through personal search, or from someone's written message concerning what the Bible has to say about the subject.

To believe that the Bible is alive, is an understatement - as it is! Once you begin reading the Psalms, for instance, you'll see King David and others have similar feelings as we have.

They go on to tell of God's faithfulness in meeting their needs, which helps them believe He'll be there for their present problems.

"Rather than grabbing the Word on the run just before dashing out the door, it's important to read it at a time and in a place where we can really fellowship with God. Take the time and enjoy savoring the richness of God's Word." Joe Stowell

"Let's keep taking the time to read the Bible. The more we search the Word, the more we'll grow in our love for it and its Author." Anne Cetas

Let’s pray: Father, our hearts are open to what You say to us in Your Word today. Quicken our understanding, so we will appreciate Your Word so much more. Thank You for moving on men of old, to write down Your thoughts for us. May we value every verse we read, as if from You to us individually. In Jesus' name, Amen.

Today’s Bible verse: Ps. 4:11 -"I have taught thee in the way of wisdom; I have led thee in right paths."

Today’s quotes: Marvin Williams - "Today, when we value God's Word, handle it with great care, and obey what it says, we give God the reverence He truly deserves."

John White – “We need minds so soaked with the content of Scripture, so imbued with biblical outlooks and principles, so sensitive to the Holy Spirit’s prompting that we will know instinctively the upright step to take in any circumstance, small or great. Therefore the most important use of Scripture in relation to guidance is that through the study of it you may become acquainted with the ways and thoughts of God.” [Quote found in David Roper’s book: Psalm 23, pg.153]

Our thought today: In the Presence of God, our prayers will take on His will and heart.
