Signs of a Real Christian

Jean Oathout: Ever wonder how you can identify a Real Christian? Folks watch us very carefully to see if our faith is genuine, so my writer friend, James Watkins, shares his thoughts with us today, so we can do a self-examination...

He gives us 10 Scriptures, and some explanations of each, to help us spot real Christians, starting with #10:
10) Ephesians 5:3-4 Let there be no sexual immorality, impurity, or greed among you. Such sins have no place among God’s people. Obscene stories, foolish talk, and coarse jokes—these are not for you.
9) Colossians 4:6 Let your conversation be gracious and attractive so that you will have the right response for everyone.
8) Proverbs 10:18 b [S]landering others makes you a fool.
7) Titus 3:2 [Leaders] must not slander anyone and must avoid quarreling. Instead, they should be gentle and show true humility to everyone.
6) James 3:13 If you are wise and understand God’s ways, prove it by living an honorable life, doing good works with the humility that comes from wisdom.
5) Romans 12:18 Do all that you can to live in peace with everyone.
4) Matthew 22:37-40 "Jesus replied, ‘'You must love the Lord your God with all your heart, all your soul, and all your mind. This is the first and greatest commandment. A second is equally important: Love your neighbor as yourself. The entire law and all the demands of the prophets are based on these two commandments.”
3) Luke 6:31-33 [Jesus said,] Do to others as you would like them to do to you. If you love only those who love you, why should you get credit for that? Even sinners love those who love them! And if you do good only to those who do good to you, why should you get credit? Even sinners do that much!
2) Romans 12:21 Don’t let evil conquer you, but conquer evil by doing good.
1) Acts 26:20 [A]ll must repent of their sins and turn to God—and prove they have changed by the good things they do.

Today’s Bible verse: Matt. 10:39 "He that findeth his life shall lose it: and he that loseth his life for my sake shall find it."

Today’s quote-

"At times, God may allow our resources to dwindle so that we rely on His strength to keep going. Our needs showcase His power, but He is the one who says, 'I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand' "(Isa. 41:10). Jennifer Benson Schuldt

"Dear God, I am thankful for Your strength. You carry me when I am weak. Help me to give you the credit for every victory in life.

God wants us to depend on His
strength, not our own."

Why Did I Do that?

Our thought today-

We are part of a community of believers, regardless of the feelings we may have. It's up to us to be friendly, so we can make friends. Be proactive and extend friendship. Avoid the temptation to avoid speaking with others, as they may very well have just what you need to hear for encouragement.

Our question today-

In 1 John 1:7, we're encouraged to fellowship with one another so Jesus' blood can cleanse us from all sin as we walk in His light, so  what's holding you back from obeying Christ's command?

Let's pray-

Father, seeing these 10 qualities of a Real Christian, may we take into account that You're the One Who makes us act that way, as we submit to Your Holy Spirit's leadership.
Thank You that I have the choice to obey, or not. May I sense Your presence in my everyday life, and obey.
I ask this in Jesus' name. Amen.

Our popular post:  What's in it for You?

Jean Oathout asks this question to help us with our relationship with God.

"Do we know that He is holy and perfect?

Has there been a time we've realized our need to seek God, and to find out what would please Him?.."
