#78 The Challenge of Japan

C. Peter Wagner: I never really understood  what Nehemiah and Daniel did until I went to Japan in the summer of 1990.

I have been visiting Japan quite frequently in recent years because I have felt God giving me a special burden for Japan, along with Argentina, as a nation where He wants both to use me and teach me in these days.

Several of my visits to Japan have been with Paul Yonggi Cho, for I have joined him in his vision for 10 million Japanese Christians by the year 2000.

Frankly, I am somewhat surprised at myself for putting such a goal in print. I always teach my students in church growth classes that setting goals is important, but setting unrealistic goals is a serious mistake.

In the natural, nothing is realistic about expecting 10 million Japanese Christians by the year 2000 when our base in 1991 is only 1 million at the most, and probably only one third of them truly committed Christians.

Paul Yonggi Cho has more committed
Christians in his local congregation in
Seoul, Korea, than can be found in the
whole nation of Japan!

Although there is little or no hope for this in the natural, in the spiritual I have sincere faith that it will be a reality. I do not know the details of how God will bring this to pass, but I am as sure as I can be that the essence will be some kind of a spiritual battle; strategic-level spiritual warfare that will dramatically increase the receptivity of the Japanese people to the gospel.

Political scientists were surprised and even baffled by the rapid collapse of the Iron Curtain. I believe something equally dramatic and equally swift can happen to the spiritual atmosphere of Japan.

If it does, the projected 10 million can come into the Kingdom in a relatively short period of time. A large number of Japanese, three out of four, say that if they ever had to choose a religion they would choose Christianity.  (Google images added)

#78  The Challenge of Japan

(pg. 132, 133) Regal Books

Father,

May we also begin expecting great things from
You in our ministries. Help us to look to You
for guidance in what we do, so it brings
lasing affects for the kingdom's growth.
Open our eyes to what is Your desire, and
give us larger visions of spiritual
advancements in our area.
I ask this in Jesus' name. Amen.

Today’s Bible verse: Jer. 6:16 "Thus saith the LORD. Stand ye in the ways, and see, and ask for the old paths, where is the good way, and walk therein, and ye shall find rest for your souls."

Today’s quote: David Roper - "Prayer is worship. Our praying
should be full of adoration, affection, and fondness for God
that He is who He is; that He created us in order to have someone
on whom He could shower His love; that He stretched out His
arms on the cross; that He intends, in the fullest sense, to make
whole men and women out of us. In worship, as the old word worthship implies, we declare what we value the most. It is one
of the best ways in the world to love God." Psalm 23 The song of a Passionate Heart, p.70, Used ones- $.01 + Postage!)

Some thoughts today: People everywhere are conscious for something better. They ask: What is the meaning of Life? Is there life after death, or is this all there is? How can I make peace with a Holy God?

- If you have answers, or know where they can get them, what are you waiting for? Do you not think that God can help them, using you as His messenger? Well, He can, so let Him fill you with His Word, (by spending time reading The Bible) and ask Him to use you!

- Someone's eternal destiny may depend on it! The Lord helped
me lead two different ladies in a "sinner's prayer" recently. One was 95, and the other, 92! As long as folks are willing to acknowledge they're sinners, and are willing to repent for their sins, and understand what Jesus did for them, lead them to Jesus...He'll cleanse them from all their sins, even 95 years of it! Now that's Good News!
